Chapter 472: The Return
Chapter 472: Chapter 472: The Return
Rhonda Rowan trembled and refused to look up.
She decided to pretend she didn’t recognize Silas Crowley and his companion. Her first priority was to get inside the base.
Silas Crowley frowned as he looked at the severely injured people in the car.
’Now doesn’t seem to be the time to argue with Rhonda Rowan...’
The car soon arrived at the base’s main gate.
The injured were immediately moved to the priority lane by the staff at the gate.
"Wait, she can’t go in."
Silas Crowley said, pointing at Rhonda Rowan.
"Alright, we’ll do as Crowley says."
Everyone at the base recognized Silas Crowley and his group. Hearing his words, they closed the lane without even asking why.
"Silas Crowley, you should be merciful when you can. I’m just an ordinary person. I can’t fight against you people," Rhonda Rowan said.
Silas Crowley couldn’t help but laugh.
"Why didn’t you say that when you were biting the hand that fed you? Nina Jacobs saved your life, and you still tried to use someone else to kill her? You’re just as despicable as that hypocrite, Corin," Silas Crowley said bluntly.
Rhonda Rowan’s face was deathly pale.
"I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m just an ordinary person without a Superpower. Does Tomorrow Base not have room for a single ordinary person like me?" Rhonda Rowan demanded loudly, as if she had suffered a great injustice.
Seeing many people looking over, Rhonda Rowan continued, "You’re banning me from the base just because of a small misunderstanding? Let’s have everyone here be the judge! On what grounds are you stopping me from entering the base!"
"On the grounds that his word is my word."
A familiar voice sounded, and Silas Crowley looked over in pleasant surprise.
"Nina Jacobs? You’re back!"
"Yes, I’m back," Nina Jacobs said with a smile.
Rhonda Rowan, however, was instantly stunned. "You’re not dead?"
Last time, after General Hughes returned, he clearly announced that both Nina Jacobs and Wayne Warner had died on the mission.
But now, Nina Jacobs was standing here, perfectly fine.
"You really want me to be dead?" Nina Jacobs asked.
Rhonda Rowan gritted her teeth, trying to stop her trembling. She wasn’t afraid of Silas Crowley, but for some reason, she was terrified of Nina Jacobs.
’Her eyes make it look like she’s staring at a dead person.’
"You’re all in this together! I’m following the proper procedure to enter the base, you can’t stop me!" Rhonda Rowan said.
Nina Jacobs smiled and said, "All personnel, listen up! This person has a corrupt heart and has repeatedly tried to harm others. Tomorrow Base reserves the right to deny her entry, permanently!"
"Yes, ma’am!"
The City Guard Soldiers at the gate responded immediately.
Rhonda Rowan’s eyes widened.
’How is this possible? Why are these people listening to Nina Jacobs? Not long ago, she was still serving at Lornwood Base...’
As if realizing something, Rhonda Rowan was about to scream, but someone knocked her unconscious with a single blow.
"Hehehe, Base Chief, what should we do with this person?" Tristan Lynch asked.
He had missed Nina Jacobs’s return, but luckily, he now had another chance to prove himself.
"Find a place and let her handle it," Nina Jacobs said, pointing at Holly Morgan.
’Her?’
Tristan Lynch looked over and saw a pair of black eyes as still as stagnant water.
He couldn’t help but feel a chill. ’Looks like Nina Jacobs has brought back another formidable person...’
"Looks like I won’t need to handle it," Felix Finch, who had been by Nina Jacobs’s side all along, said with a smile.
Most of the City Guard Soldiers at the gate recognized Nina Jacobs.
Plus, when Nina had arrived at the base earlier, he had already given them instructions.
"Mhm, Holly Morgan will take care of it cleanly," Nina Jacobs said with a smile.
Holly Morgan’s Thorny Vine would grow stronger nourished by blood, and Nina didn’t want to waste a natural "nutrient" like Rhonda Rowan.
However, there were too many eyes and ears at the base gate. It would be better to find a more secluded spot.
"Silas Crowley! Is that really you?"
Audrey Crowley shouted, looking at Silas, who was talking with Nina Jacobs.
They had just entered the base with Nina Jacobs, but Nina had seemingly heard something and turned back.
She hadn’t expected to see Silas Crowley so soon.
Silas Crowley’s body stiffened. For a moment, he thought he was dreaming.
"This is what I was just telling you about. Is that your sister?" Nina Jacobs asked.
"Yes... that’s my older sister," Silas Crowley answered blankly.
’What is Audrey Crowley doing here?’
However, he was soon met with a furious beating.
"This is for not listening to me! Don’t you know to come home when you’re in trouble? Running off to a place this far away... do you have any idea how worried Grandpa and the others were about you? If I had known, I never would have vouched for you to get into that damn entertainment industry!" Audrey Crowley kept hitting and kicking him, as if trying to vent all the anxiety and worry from the past few days.
"Audrey, stop hitting him," Lyra Thorne walked up and said, trying to calm her down.
Seeing Silas Crowley standing before her safe and sound, and even with a more masculine aura than before the apocalypse, Lyra Thorne patted his shoulder and laughed.
"You punk."
She didn’t know what else to say. In any case, Silas being alive was the best possible news. They could catch up on the rest later.
Nina Jacobs could also see that Silas and Audrey Crowley had a good relationship.
She did indeed want to learn more about the Crowley Family.
Not because of the Crowley Group, but because she remembered there was indeed a branch of the Crowley Family among the Ancient Martial Clans of Drakonia.
It was called the Mornfell Crowley Family.
Whether the two were connected, she didn’t yet know. But at least one thing was certain: in her past life, the Crowley Group had no connection to The Aegis Conclave...
Cordelia had also heard that Nina Jacobs was back.
When she saw Nina Jacobs, Nina was in the base’s conference room, listening to work reports from everyone.
She winked at Nina Jacobs, and after seeing that neither Nina nor Wayne Warner were injured, she sat quietly to one side and waited.
Nina Jacobs listened to the reports from each department one by one. She had been away from the base for nearly twenty days. When she left, the base was just a fledgling concept.
She hadn’t expected it to be so well-organized now under Felix Finch’s management.
This included the subdivision and functions of various departments, as well as the base’s internal planning and the expansion of the City Guard Soldiers.
After listening to all the reports, she was quite satisfied.
Moreover, many of the people Felix Finch had appointed were individuals she knew or was familiar with.
No one seemed to feel distant from her.
"The biggest problem for the base right now is supplies. Because Lornwood Base already collected a lot of supplies from the Rhovan Territory in the early stages, the supply points we’ve visited recently have all been empty," Felix said.
He was a captain under Valerius Lucas, and with his rich combat experience, Felix Finch had promoted him to be in charge of searching for collectible supplies.
Unfortunately, they could find very, very few supplies.
Some places that might have supplies were either extremely dangerous or required passing through Lornwood Base.
"The supply issue... you don’t need to worry about it for now."
The moment Nina Jacobs said this, even Felix Finch was a little surprised.
’They weren’t too worried about Lornwood Base; after all, a fight would settle it. But the supply issue was a dead end. For Nina to say something like this, could it be she already...?’
"I will discuss this with Felix Finch privately later. In any case, I want everyone to prioritize human life above all else," Nina Jacobs said.
Her original intention for building Tomorrow Base was, in the end, to sell goods and gain System Experience.
If all the people were gone, it would defeat her original purpose.
"Understood," Felix replied loudly.
He had previously served under Valerius Lucas at Lornwood Base, and he had never met anyone who considered human life more important than supplies.
Thinking of the sweat and tears he and everyone else had shed out there, he suddenly felt it was all worth it.
