Chapter 371: Newcomer Zephyra
Chapter 371: Chapter 371: Newcomer Zephyra
Tristan Lynch looked troubled.
The others looked just as troubled.
"Miss Zephyra, Lornwood Base is no place for a person to live."
Corisande said.
"Well, that’s a problem."
Nina Jacobs’s slender fingers tapped slowly on the tabletop.
"What about the others?" she asked.
According to Mirelle Keller, there were over sixty Superpower Users here.
"It’s like this. A couple of days ago, we used a little scheme to retrieve a pretty strong Water Element Superpower User. Achilles Renner just left with some men."
Tristan Lynch explained.
"Oh? A scheme?"
Nina Jacobs narrowed her eyes.
Tristan Lynch seemed a bit smug as he said, "Not far from here, there’s a place called Pyralia. We had an agreement with a Water Element Superpower User there,
but she ended up being imprisoned by someone. As you know, it’s really hard to find a Water Element Superpower User in all of Keldorn right now,
so we lured the surrounding zombies over. Thanks to that, the Water Element Superpower User was able to escape."
"So that’s how it was. You’re all quite capable, then."
Nina Jacobs was telling the truth.
It sounded like these people truly dared to think and act. Gathering thirty Water Element Superpower Users in just over a month was no small feat.
As for the Water Element Superpower User Tristan Lynch mentioned, that was Mirelle Keller, who had arrived this morning.
This was also part of her and Mirelle Keller’s plan.
If she couldn’t get information about the other outpost here, she could still rely on Mirelle Keller’s side.
"Heh heh, in Keldorn, as long as you have one Water Element Superpower User, the rest is easy. There will always be people willing to trade their lives and supplies for water."
"But this is also thanks to Achilles Renner. I heard he and Magnus York are good friends. You two must know each other, right?"
Tristan Lynch asked.
"I don’t."
Nina Jacobs replied.
Tristan Lynch was a little surprised, but he quickly showed his understanding. "Miss Zephyra, what is your Superpower?"
"Me? Fire and Earth Dual System."
As Nina Jacobs spoke, a ball of Superpower Fire appeared in her left hand, and a Stone Spike formed in her right.
Surprise and delight appeared on the faces of Tristan Lynch and his men.
"It seems you’re one of the organization’s new rising stars."
They all knew that the organization always prioritized recruiting Dual Element Superpower Users and granted them special privileges.
This Zephyra must have joined the organization not long ago, yet she was able to take Magnus York’s place. It turned out she was a Dual Element Superpower User.
But Nina Jacobs just snorted coldly. "All I was told was that you, the vanguard team, would have handled all matters here."
"Now it sounds like you’ve left me with a total mess."
Her tone was tinged with displeasure. "How many people from the organization are left?"
"There are... still..."
"Including us, there are fifteen..."
As soon as Tristan Lynch finished speaking, he felt a sudden chill between his eyebrows.
A Stone Spike had appeared before his forehead in the blink of an eye.
Nina Jacobs’s sharp voice cut in. "Are you joking with me?"
The others at his side seemed to be terrified by the sight.
They hadn’t even seen when the Stone Spike had appeared.
"Miss Zephyra, besides those fifteen, we’ve also gathered over fifty local people here in Keldorn."
"If you need people, Miss Zephyra, they are also at your disposal."
Another man named Lachlan hurriedly replied.
Only then did Nina Jacobs withdraw the Stone Spike.
"I was wondering what kind of great assignment I’d been given. No wonder Magnus York and Alistair White refused it so decisively."
Nina Jacobs said coldly.
The men didn’t even dare to breathe too loudly.
’This Zephyra might be new, but her aura is way too powerful, isn’t it?’
Meanwhile, Cordelia and the others could see that these men no longer had any doubts about their identities.
For a moment, even they had been drawn into the performance.
"Forget it. Since I’m already here... didn’t you say there was another location?"
Nina Jacobs asked.
Tristan Lynch looked hesitant. "The road to the outpost isn’t very safe. Achilles Renner usually leads the way."
"Why don’t you all rest here for two days? We can set off together once Achilles Renner returns with his men."
’Achilles Renner again.’
’It seems these people are highly dependent on this Achilles Renner.’
"What’s there to be afraid of? Zephyra can even kill an Intermediate Zombie. You think she’s afraid of this?"
At that moment, Silas Crowley chimed in.
Tristan Lynch and the others thought for a moment before finally nodding in agreement.
"Since everyone has gathered, there’s indeed no need to wait here any longer."
"However, there is one person here we need to deal with. I just don’t know if he can hold on until we leave."
It was only then that Nina Jacobs learned that Tristan Lynch’s vanguard team was supposed to return to City A to report back after rendezvousing with her.
No wonder they had been so excited to see her arrive.
’So they were just waiting to go back.’
"Who else needs to be dealt with?" Nina Jacobs asked, a hint of impatience in her voice.
"A Dual Element Superpower User who’s on the verge of death."
"Technically, we could just bring back his body, but it would be rather inconvenient on the road, so we’ve been keeping him barely alive."
Corisande answered.
"To take back to Dr. Gray?"
Nina Jacobs asked.
Corisande nodded. "Before we left, Dr. Gray specifically instructed us that if we encountered a Dual Element Superpower User..."
"...bringing back a body would also be fine?"
Nina Jacobs remembered Alistair White saying that.
Corisande nodded. ’It seems that although this Zephyra is new, she knows everything.’
"Take me to see this person."
Nina Jacobs noticed that they seemed a bit hesitant.
"Achilles Renner said he was worried the man might escape at any moment, so he forbade anyone from going near there."
Corisande said, sounding a little uncertain.
"With me here, he’s not going anywhere."
Nina Jacobs had no intention of letting Tristan Lynch and the others return to report on their mission.
So naturally, she wouldn’t let them take this Dual Element Superpower User either.
"That’s right. Miss Zephyra is also a Dual Element Superpower User; she definitely won’t let him escape easily. Corisande, lead the way."
Lachlan said in a fawning tone.
Seeing Tristan Lynch nod as well, Corisande had no choice but to lead them to a basement.
The moment the door opened, the stench of blood hit them.
Cordelia and the others were all too familiar with this smell.
It was the smell of rotting wounds.
Soon, Nina Jacobs saw a person lying on the floor.
It was a man. His right arm and body were covered in burns of varying degrees.
Even the right side of his face had been burned away.
At a glance, he looked no different from the zombies outside.
Tristan Lynch said with disgust, "He probably escaped from that valley. Achilles Renner caught him five days ago, but not before he killed six of our people."
"If it weren’t for the fact that he’s a Dual Element Superpower User, we would’ve fed him to the zombies long ago."
The more Tristan Lynch spoke, the angrier he became, and he even stepped forward to kick the man.
The man’s eyes shot open. With one hand, he materialized a Fire Spike he had long been gathering power for, and it shot instantly toward Tristan Lynch!
BANG!
The Fire Spike was blocked by a Stone Shield.
Tristan Lynch broke out in a cold sweat.
It was Zephyra who had blocked the attack for him. Otherwise, that last strike would have undoubtedly killed him.
Tristan Lynch looked at her gratefully.
"You still dare to hurt people?!"
A long Metal Whip appeared in Corisande’s hand, and she lashed it fiercely against the festering right side of the man’s body.
The man didn’t make a sound. Cordelia lowered her head and closed her eyes, unable to watch.
"That’s enough. Don’t you have to take him back? How are you going to do that if he’s dead?"
Nina Jacobs stopped her.
"All of you, go pack up. We leave in an hour."
Nina Jacobs commanded.
"Alright, we’ll go right now. But him..."
Because he hadn’t expected Zephyra to be in such a hurry to leave, Tristan Lynch wasn’t prepared for how to transport the Dual Element Superpower User.
"If you’re worried, you can put him in the trunk of our car."
Nina Jacobs suggested.
"That could work. But this guy is extremely cunning."
"Damian, give him another shot."
Tristan Lynch said.
