Chapter 2113: The Great Desert

Chapter 2113: The Great Desert

Grey led Reynolds out of his room towards his father’s study. When he was alone with Void and the bunny leader, he never really found it boring to cultivate, but after spending a few minutes with Reynolds, he decided he needed to step out. He was nowhere near the peak of the Ninth stage of the Sovereign Plane, so there was no point spending too much time in seclusion.

Lucas’s study.

Lucas was going through one of the scrolls on the table when he heard a knock, without raising his head he waved his hand, opening the door.

Grey and Reynolds walked into the study to see him focused on what he was reading. Knowing his father, Grey stood quietly by the side with Reynolds, patiently waiting for him to finish what he was reading. Reynolds followed Grey’s lead and didn’t make a sound.

A minute later, Lucas dropped the scroll in his hand with a frown, raising his head to look at Grey, "You want to step out?"

Grey nodded, "Yes, we’d like to head to the Aurora Continent for some time."

Lucas let out a small ’oh’ before falling silent, after some thoughts, he motioned for Grey and Reynolds to come over. The duo did as told.

Lucas brought out a map and placed it over the scroll on his table, "This is the normal teleportation array you use when heading to the Aurora Continent, but that region is deep within the Gnomes’ current region, making it too dangerous."

He used his elemental essence to circle two places on the map, "There are two more teleportation arrays, you’ll use this one, I have a task for you two on the way there."

Grey and Reynolds looked at the teleportation array Lucas highlighted on the map. It was the furthest one from where they were located and Grey didn’t even have a teleportation array set up close to it.

"What do you want us to do?" Grey asked...

Later that day.

Grey and Reynolds quietly slipped out of Red City. Grey was someone who the Gnomes wanted dead, thus, it was unwise for others to know his whereabouts whenever he left Red City.

Two days later.

Grey and Reynolds were standing on the edge of a forest, ahead of them was a vast desert.

Grey brought out the map and after pinpointing their location on the map, he kept it.

"How far are we?" Reynolds’s voice came from beside Grey.

"A few hours." Grey turned to Reynolds, "Are you prepared?"

Stretching his hand, Reynolds grinned, "Of course!"

....

Under the starry night.

An oasis town which looked to be in ruins from a battle had camp fires lit on different spots along with the chatter of people.

Grey and Reynolds arrived outside the oasis town at this moment, seeing the occupants of the town, their faces fell.

The duo exchanged glances before retreating a good distance.

They stopped after getting considerably far from the oasis.

Reynolds stared at the oasis that was a good distance away, "What do we do now, this place has been captured. I didn’t see any signs of prisoners either."

Grey had a thoughtful expression on his face, hearing Reynolds’s question he furrowed his brow, "The bunny leader will send one of his scouts to confirm there are no prisoners, once we’re certain we’ll move on."

Reynolds had no issues with Grey’s idea. It took about ten minutes or so for the bunny leader to report back to them, there were no prisoners in this oasis. He also gave Grey an interesting piece of news, there were no expert Sovereigns present in the oasis, not even a single Seventh stage Sovereign was present here.

"That’s strange." Grey and Reynolds found the situation odd.

According to the information they received from Lucas, this oasis had two Ninth stage Sovereigns always present, and another one stationed some kilometers away, ready to take action at any moment’s notice. It was impossible for an army with no Late stage Sovereigns to defeat one that had three.

Frowning, Grey told the bunny leader to help him kidnap someone they could question. He didn’t need to do it inside the town since he needed to be as careful as possible.

Kidnapping an Early stage Sovereign was light work for the bunny leader given his current strength and use of the space element. It only took a few seconds before a Gnome appeared before Grey and Reynolds.

"Where are your leaders?" Grey questioned.

The Gnome was disoriented from the sudden change in his surroundings, when he regained his senses, he was scared witless to see that he was standing before two humans. He was no fool, only someone vastly stronger than himself could take him away from the camp to this place within a breath and he didn’t even sense it due to how instant it was.

Grey tilted his head and to look at the Gnome, faintly kicking the shin of the Gnome, he asked in a cold deep voice, "Answer me?"

The kick seemed to frighten the Gnome even more than he used to be.

Grey was starting to get frustrated with the Gnome and was planning to kill him when the Gnome pointed towards the east.

Grey’s raised right hand froze, looking in the direction the Gnome pointed, he asked, "They are there?"

"They chased after the humans who escaped, we were left to supervise this place." The Gnome’s voice was barely audible.

Reynolds scoffed when he heard this.

The Gnome jolted from fear when he heard Reynolds’s scoff.

Seeing how much of a coward the Gnome was, Grey felt irritated by his action. Since he had acquired the information he wanted, he killed the Gnome with a simple move.

"We should give chase." He flew into the sky.

"What about this camp?" Reynolds was unwilling to let the Gnomes present here live. Since there were no Late stage Sovereigns present, he felt the two of them should kill them all.

"Of course we’ll kill them all in passing." Grey’s murderous intent flared as he flew in the direction of the oasis.

Reynolds nodded in approval, "That’s more like it."

Grey, Reynolds, and Void, laid waste to every single one of the Gnomes in the oasis in a matter of minutes. There were at least a few hundred Gnomes here, but there was nothing they could do in the presence of absolute strength.

The oasis had already been destroyed by the Gnomes, therefore the trio held nothing back with their attacks.

They flew silently deep into the desert, only coming to a stop a few hours later. The reason was because they were in front of another oasis, this one was smaller than the previous one, its state, however, was the same as that one, in ruins.

Some Gnomes set up camps in the destroyed oasis, conversing with each other.

The bunny leader once again sent out one of his bunny scouts, and the situation here was not too different from the previous oasis, the only difference was that there were some humans in captivity here.

The strongest Gnome in this place was only in the Fifth stage of the Sovereign Plane. Grey and Void went straight for the prisoners, appearing inside the building they were being held captive.

The Gnome watching them was a Peak Venerable, he did not even sense Grey and Void’s presence before he was killed.

The humans who were held captive in the building all looked at Grey in appreciation. Some of them charged out to engage the Gnomes in battle.

Grey and Void joined Reynolds who had singlehandedly wiped out one fourth of the Gnomes here within the short time Grey and Void went to rescue the prisoners.

They joined the fray and wiped out all the Gnomes present that numbered just above a hundred.

They headed in the direction of the next oasis with more people in their midst. They could not leave the rescued prisoners there, nor could they tell them to leave on their own since it wasn’t safe.

There was a large city somewhere in the desert that was far larger than Red City, according to what Grey knew, it was on the same scale as the cities in the Aurora Continent, and that city is precisely the location of the teleportation array they needed to get to the Aurora Continent.

The prisoners told Grey and Reynolds they overheard the Gnomes speaking about attacking the desert city. When Grey took into action the direction the Gnomes were moving in, it was a straight line heading for the city.

"We have to pick up the pace." He urged the others.

....

Far away from where Grey’s group was located.

Screams of women and children spread all across the peaceful night along with the sound of attacks.

An oasis city was being ravaged by Gnomes.

While the Gnomes decimated the city, six Gnomes stood in the air with their hands behind their backs.

One of them looked at the oasis in chaos, "This is the last one before we get to the city. Are you sure of the information?"

"Absolutely, we can kill them with this chance."
