Chapter 2099: Ensuring The Trio’s Survival
Grey reacted accordingly, dealing with the two attacks from the lady Gnome.
The lady Gnome continued her attacks, and Grey focused on defending without counterattacking. She became even more ferocious with her attacks, aiming to knock Grey down from the sky.
Grey was calm and collected, evading the attacks as he tried to look for openings. He was still thinking of creating a chance to strike when he heard the scream of Garth from a distance away.
Looking in that direction, he realized things were not looking good for Garth and the others who were already trapped in an encirclement. They had to face nine Ninth stage Sovereigns who also had puppets who were at least Eighth stage Sovereigns. It did not take long before the trio were forced to only block the attacks, they did not even have the luxury to evade any attack.
’Damn it!’
With no choice, he used his space element to appear behind a Gnome that was about to attack the trio.
Grey’s attack came suddenly, but the Gnome was prepared for any surprise attacks, so he reacted in time, attempting to dodge the attack.
Grey had no plans of letting the Gnome escape unscathed, boosting the speed of his attack with the wind element; he grazed the left shoulder of the Gnome, drawing blood.
The lady Gnome caught up to Grey at this moment, "You’re also a Space Elementalist, this will be fun."
Grey ignored the lady Gnome and flew in the direction of another one of the attacking Gnomes. He could not watch the Gnomes decimate Garth and the others in a matter of seconds without doing anything.
Boom!
Another attack forced a Gnome to retreat from the encirclement.
The lady Gnome chased after Grey, trying to get him to fight with her. She almost caught up with him when his speed suddenly doubled and he forced back the third Ninth stage Sovereign in a row.
His performance shocked the lady Gnome, now she understood why Rikard told them to ensure Grey’s body remained intact. A Ninth stage Sovereign being able to act in such a nonchalant manner while being chased by another Ninth stage Sovereign was simply unfathomable, especially given the fact that they were not just both Space Elementalists, but he was also attacking other Ninth stage Sovereigns in the process.
Garth, Tate, and Cassian saw the opportunity Grey created for them to escape the encirclement and took it in a flash. They might not be as strong as Grey was, but they were top experts who had seen hundreds if not thousands of battles. It was after they escaped from the encirclement Grey finally left that area with the lady Gnome.
The lady Gnome, after chasing after Grey for so long, felt humiliated. She saw the look of disapproval her companions gave her when they saw she could not handle just one person even after she claimed he was hers.
"You’re so annoying, has anyone told you that?" The lady Gnome asked.
Grey had his eyes on what was happening with Garth and the others. He could not allow the three to die in this place as they were all talented individuals, especially the brothers who were Light Elementalists.
Grey attacked the lady Gnome, this time, with the knowledge of his space and wind elements being known, he did not hide them. In a matter of seconds the duo exchanged a few hundred blows.
They separated after a clash and the lady Gnome’s breathing had gotten heavy from the tough battle. Her chest was rising up and down with beads of sweat dripping down her face and her. If one closed closer, they would see that her right hand was shaking.
She held her shaking arm with her other arm, and after taking in a deep breath, she growled and pounced Grey’s way.
Grey blocked her move, only for him to see a figure as large as himself appearing behind him as he evaded the attack.
The time of the figure’s appearance was impeccable, making it impossible for Grey to evade this attack.
With no choice, Grey knew attempting to block the attack was futile, rather, he opted to meet the attack with an attack of his own. Using the fire element, he swirled his fingers and a tornado of flames appeared, swallowing the figure inside it. He used the opportunity to create a distance between himself and the new figure which he had already guessed to be a puppet.
Inside the fire tornado, a brown glow spread out before large fragments of rocks shot out from within it, heading Grey’s direction.
The puppet jumped out from the fire tornado, hiding behind one of the rock fragments.
Grey used wind blades to cut apart the earth fragments coming his way. His swings were elegant, and with each strike, an earth fragment was shattered to pieces.
The lady Gnome, seeing Grey in such a state, flew forward in a bid to assist her puppet. From the short clash she had with Grey, she knew there was a gap between him and a regular Ninth stage Sovereign in regards to strength, so she knew there was barely anything her puppet could do to Grey.
Grey was still cutting apart the rock fragments, when he noticed the lady Gnome rapidly approaching, he clasped both palms together and a fierce wind pushed back everything within a hundred and fifty meters radius from where he was standing.
The puppet was forced out from behind the rock fragment where it hid. However, it vanished at that particular time.
Grey detected a spatial fluctuation close to him, and surely, it was the puppet who vanished. As soon as the puppet reappeared, it attacked without hesitation.
Boom!
A large explosion rang out as Grey blocked the puppet’s attack with a fire screen. Cracks appeared on the screen from the impact, but it remained intact.
The lady Gnome’s attack arrived at this moment, striking the weakest part of the defensive screen, shattering it.
