Chapter 2065: I’m A Man Of My Words

Chapter 2065: I’m A Man Of My Words

An hour later, Grey walked over to the spot where the three mercenaries were lying. The lady had already stopped her hysterical cries and her eyes just looked dead, the two men were quiet, but it was evident there were many things going through their heads at the moment.

Grey was no longer as weak as he was when he just finished the battle. He changed his clothes, and his surface wounds were almost fully healed up.

Looking down at the trio, he asked, "Do you know why you’re still alive?"

The two men exchanged glances, knowing fully well that Grey probably wanted to extract some information from them.

The middle-aged man who currently looked older than Grey’s grandparents replied, "You want to ask us some questions."

"Correct." Grey nodded bluntly.

"What do we get if we answer you correctly?" The middle-aged man asked, before Grey could reply he added, "We know we’re not in a position to ask for anything, but please, why not consider keeping us as prisoners if we answer your questions?"

"I’m a man of my words, I declared earlier that every single one of you must die, I’m not going back on that." Grey looked at the man with his cold emotionless eyes.

The hearts of the two men shattered when they saw his gaze. They were very familiar with such a gaze because they too have used it on hundreds of people they had robbed over their years of living as mercenaries.

"However..." Grey raised a finger and said, "If you can give me a satisfactory answer, I’ll make your deaths painless."

"And if we refuse? You’ll still kill us anyway, so why should we tell you anything?" The other man asked.

"I’m definitely going to kill you, no doubt. But there will be a difference, so it’s up to you to choose how you want to die. I don’t really care." Grey replied nonchalantly. Even if he could not get the answers to his questions from them, he did not really care. He was certain he would find out what he wanted to know eventually, so why waste his time?

Seeing Grey’s reaction to this, the two men understood that Grey would not spare them even if they spilled everything they knew to him. Nonetheless, they too understood the meaning behind his words. Either they told him what he wanted and die quickly without any pain, or they kept quiet and die slowly.

The two men exchanged glances before the middle-aged man sighed in defeat, "What do you want to know? Please be informed that we do not know much about the Gnomes or their plans, we are only given orders to carry out."

"I’m aware, people with your strength won’t be integrated into the core forces of the Gnomes." Grey nodded before asking, "What was that puppet? How come I’ve never seen it before?"

"The puppet was given to us when we were sent on this mission in case an expert came. Looks like even with it, we still couldn’t survive." The middle-aged man’s voice was filled with dejection as he explained, "Due to your ability to cut off the connections of Gnomes or Necromancers to their puppets, they looked for multiple means to counter that. There are a few people who have been able to improve their techniques, that way even if you cut off their connections with their puppets, they won’t be affected by it."

"I’ve encountered one like that." Before heading to the small world, there was a mission they were sent on where he faced such a person.

"The requirements of attaining this are very complex, we do not know the details, but they said only a few of the Gnomes can achieve this." The other man tried to chime in as well, afraid that Grey would only be merciful to the man speaking.

"Oh, that’s interesting. What about this puppet?" Grey wore a thoughtful expression on his face.

"It’s said that the Gnomes sacrificed a lot of resources to create these puppets. It can only be made here in our world, and the resources needed are astronomical. We have no idea the location of the place, but over the past few years, we’ve been sent to gather a lot of resources and hand them over to the person giving us orders." The man continued.

"Oh, how often do you usually deliver these resources?"

"Our next batch is to be delivered in three weeks."

"Where are the resources?"

"Your beasts looted them while you were fighting."

The second this statement was made, both Void and the bunny leader acted like they heard nothing, each sprawled on the ground in a lazy manner.

Grey glanced at the duo, but then focused back to the man, "Where is the meet up location?"

The man wanted to bring out a map from his space ring when he realized that his space ring was gone, with a weak voice he asked, "Do you have a map of this continent so I can show you the place?"

Grey brought out a map and passed it to them. His map was well detailed, and there were multiple spots marked on the map. These were places Grey had set up teleportation arrays throughout their time back at the Azure Continent.

The man took the map, curiously looked at the marked spots before marking a new spot for Grey and passing it back to him.

Grey looked at the map and realized it was actually close to the place where Lunar Academy used to be situated.

’To think they can come this deep, it seems we’ve been pushed back a lot by the Gnomes.’

Things were not looking good for humans at the current rate things were developing. If they did not do something fast to stop the Gnomes’ rapidly expanding territories, they would lose the entire Azure Continent in a few years time. This thought made Grey feel even more pressure, he had become a Ninth stage Sovereign now, a top expert, yet it seemed like it was not going to be enough.

"My final question, how many groups were sent out to encircle the scouts?"
