Adventure: My Skills Evolve Infinitely

Chapter 523 - 251: Eve and Mi Lan

Chapter 523: Chapter 251: Eve and Mi Lan

The study of Arrays could be considered a rather special school of thought among Mages.

The essence of an Array is, in fact, Magic. It’s just reproduced outside the body using Magic Power by simulating the circuit-like structures that operate within the human body.

They are naturally more difficult to create than conventional Magic. Constructing the corresponding Array for any given spell presents all sorts of bizarre and varied problems.

After all, the conventional system of Magic was designed around the human body. Outside of it, certain things inevitably change.

Simply copying the circuits won’t reproduce the Array. That’s why tests and adjustments are necessary.

Some can be completed with adjustments, while others are impossible to finish, no matter what...

Still, the utility of Arrays is immense, primarily in functional applications.

For example, Magic Crystal Stones that seal Magic within them are created by constructing an Array for the corresponding spell inside.

After all, while Magic Crystal Stones have Magic Storage properties, they can only store Magic Power.

If you want to enable people who don’t know Magic—or even have no Magic Power—to use it, you need an Array to make it happen.

Even the Magic Network used by the Association actually originated from research into Arrays.

However, when it comes to real-time combat, Arrays are generally worthless because they take much longer to construct than a typical spell.

The exception is in wars fought at fixed locations. If you know the battlefield in advance, deploying an Array can indeed produce extraordinary results.

For example, during the Goblin siege of Silver Stream City, if there had been a Mage skilled in Arrays in the city, they could have set them up beyond the front lines in advance, waiting for the Goblins to enter the area and trigger them.

This type of usage is basically a kind of High Level Magic trap.

The only difference is that they have a larger area of effect and greater power, are easier to control, and you don’t have to worry about cleaning up afterward.

Once the Energy within the Array is depleted, it naturally vanishes.

Beyond all that, Arrays can also prove useful in many weird and wonderful ways.

Take this one right in front of them, for instance.

Given the Giant Stone Mine’s inhospitable structure, connecting the upper and middle levels through conventional engineering would be incredibly complex and difficult. Even with the help of Magic, it would be a major hassle.

In comparison, a simple Earth Element construction-type Array solves the problem directly.

Convenient and efficient, indeed.

The vehicle sped over the Array. After a long descent, they were finally back on "solid ground."

Stretching out before them was the middle level of the Giant Stone Mine.

"It doesn’t seem any different from the upper level?"

Lin Mo looked around.

"True. Apart from the Demons being more numerous and powerful, the overall structure of the upper and middle levels of the Giant Stone Mine is very similar... Of course, the mineral deposits in the middle level are far more abundant than in the upper level."

He spoke like a guide, explaining the details of the mine to a newcomer like Lin Mo.

"The camp on the middle level is not far from here. We can get there in about twenty minutes."

He checked his watch; it was just 5 p.m. Tonight, they would have plenty of time to rest for the challenges of the coming day.

Just as Deke had said, the carriage pressed on, and in a little less than twenty minutes, they could see buildings similar to the ones at last night’s camp.

The buildings were simple but sturdy, and like the Guards standing at the entrance, they gave off a solemn air.

"There seem to be other Adventurers inside..."

Luke spotted some people walking into the camp from a distance. Judging by their clothes, they didn’t seem to be camp Guards.

"That’s perfectly normal. Weren’t there plenty of other Adventurers at yesterday’s camp? The Giant Stone Mine is one of the more popular adventure zones near Fajade City, so it’s only natural that a lot of people come here for quests."

Deke was unfazed by this. "Everyone has their own quests, anyway. As long as we don’t get in each other’s way, it’s fine."

Despite his words, he also cast a curious glance toward the camp entrance.

As they drew closer, the voices of the people there became clearer.

"Huh?"

Deke let out a sound of surprise and doubt.

"What’s wrong?"

Lin Mo asked, turning his head.

The people ahead of them looked young, probably in their early twenties.

They were all wearing similar styles of clothing.

Some outfits were blue and white, others black and white, and still others red and white.

"These should be students from the Kingdom National Academy."

Deke explained, "The red-and-white uniforms belong to students from the Warrior Academy, black-and-white is for the Assassin Academy, blue-and-white is the Magic Academy, and yellow-and-white is the Knight Academy."

Hearing this, Lin Mo’s interest was piqued, and he gave them a curious look.

’The Kingdom National Academy was, without a doubt, the best Professional Academy in the Doria Kingdom.’

’For instance, Flora, who had taught him Magic and helped him open the door to its study, was from there. Her friend, too—that somewhat dense and clumsy Assassin, Shaya. They had both been students at the Kingdom National Academy.’

’Of course, Flora was a mentor at the Academy now.’

"What are these students here for?"

"Probably for training... or maybe to complete some kind of assignment?"

Deke guessed.

"Training? Students come here for training?"

Lin Mo was surprised. After all, this was the Giant Stone Mine, a place with a relatively high danger level—and they were in the middle level, no less.
