Chapter 451: Chapter 226: Mission in the New City, Old Friend Goblin
After chatting a while longer with Leonard, the leader of the Lion Adventurer Group, the list of suitable tasks he had someone compile for Lin Mo’s party was ready.
Lin Mo took the list and prepared to take his leave.
After all, the Lion Adventurer Group had its own business to attend to, and he didn’t want to impose any further.
As he was about to leave, Leonard tried several times to get him to stay, a gesture that seemed at odds with his hearty appearance. When they finally waved goodbye, Leonard repeatedly urged Lin Mo to come find him anytime he ran into problems or trouble.
After leaving the Lion Adventurer Group, Lin Mo planned to spend the rest of the day strolling around the city with the girls.
They had finally made it to a new city, after all. Diving straight into work would be treating themselves like beasts of burden. While improving their strength and making money were both important, he couldn’t push them too hard, or their morale would suffer.
As expected of a major city, Fajade City’s prosperity was several notches above that of Silver Stream City.
The shops lining the streets were more established and larger than those in Silver Stream City. Even the snack stalls tucked away in the alleys looked much more orderly.
From the looks of it, the City Lord of Fajade City was doing an excellent job.
Upon spotting the roadside food stalls, Feney, the little glutton, naturally couldn’t resist the temptation. She started buying snacks from one stall after another.
Shefilya wanted to stop her, maybe even give her a "scolding," but with Lin Mo now backing Feney up, the little maid was powerless to do anything about it.
"Don’t be so uptight... This stuff isn’t that unhealthy. Eating it once in a while won’t cause any problems."
To Shefilya, the words of her master, Lin Mo, held far more authority than those of Feney, who was both her young lady and a younger sister figure.
And so, she could only mutter a few helpless complaints and let Feney do as she pleased.
With a pastry in her left hand and a skewer of grilled meat in her right, Feney stuffed her cheeks until they were puffed out, a heartfelt smile plastered on her face.
Ali, by contrast, was more interested in meat; she was a strict carnivore.
Lena, however, preferred sweets and hardly ate any meat.
Lin Mo would eat anything offered to him, but not much, usually just taking a bite when Ali or Feney held some food to his lips. Shefilya, on the other hand, ate nothing at all, trailing after them like a puppet with a vaguely resentful look on her face.
Anyone who didn’t know her might have found her behavior a little intimidating, but having been around her for a while, Lin Mo now just found it rather cute.
Of course, this had a lot to do with Shefilya’s height. If she were as tall as Flora, such a cold expression might actually be a bit intimidating.
But at under 1.5 meters tall—a fair bit shorter than even Lena—it was difficult for her to have any sort of imposing air.
After all the eating and drinking, the next natural step was clothes shopping.
It wasn’t that they were short on clothes; they simply hadn’t brought many with them from Silver Stream City.
While Lin Mo’s Ring of Space was quite large, its capacity was still finite. It had to be reserved for important items, so everyday things like clothes weren’t a priority. They had only packed a few outfits and needed to buy more.
At times like this, Lena and Feney were naturally the most excited. Ali had never cared much for dressing up, but she had started to take an interest since meeting Lin Mo. Only Shefilya remained completely unmoved.
Come to think of it, Lin Mo had never seen her wear anything other than her maid uniform.
It seemed Shefilya’s wardrobe consisted of nothing but multiple, nearly identical maid uniforms.
However, considering that being a Maid was an identity for Shefilya, not just a job, it was understandable.
Lin Mo glanced at her and ultimately gave up on the idea of trying to persuade her to try on other clothes.
’It would probably be useless even if I said anything. Best not to put her on the spot...’
"Mr. Lin Mo, what do you think of this dress?"
Feney had changed into a lovely white dress. She shyly hid her hands behind her back and gave a little twirl.
The hem of her dress fluttered, and she exuded an aura of pure, sweet innocence.
"It’s lovely! Absolutely lovely!"
"Then... I’ll take this one! Miss, could you please wrap it up for me...?"
"Lin Mo, Lin Mo! Look at me."
Ali unceremoniously grabbed Lin Mo’s head and turned it to face her.
The Little Wolf Girl was dressed in a sleek, form-fitting outfit that made her look both chic and adorable. Her big tail wagged ceaselessly behind her, making one desperately want to reach out and pet it.
"Th-There’s me, too..."
Lena’s timid voice came from the side. The Little Cat Girl’s daily style was usually on the conservative side, but this time, she had chosen a keyhole turtleneck sweater. She wore a coat over it, hiding it from view so that only Lin Mo could see.
"Ali said... you would like this. I’ll buy it... and only wear it for you at home..."
The words were clearly not her own; someone had coached her. She stumbled through the sentence, and by the time she finished, her face was beet-red.
A dangerous look immediately flashed in Shefilya’s eyes. Her gaze shifted from Lena and landed squarely on Ali.
Ali met her gaze without flinching, a hint of triumph and a clear "Taunt" in her eyes.
Lin Mo could see it clearly now. "Factions" were beginning to form in his little household, and they were already starting to compete with each other.
’Well...’
