Chapter 386 - 207: Madam Chacher’s Gift of Supplies, a Future Dragon Knight?

Chapter 386: Chapter 207: Madam Chacher’s Gift of Supplies, a Future Dragon Knight?

It wasn’t until they were nearing the territory of Roland Town that they finally encountered someone blocking their path.

Surprisingly, it wasn’t Demons or Goblins blocking the road, but a group of bandits.

These men had set up an ambush here, clearly intending to rob the refugees fleeing from Roland Town and the surrounding villages. They never imagined someone would approach from the other direction. And not just someone—a convoy of three carriages, each one looking utterly luxurious. They were stunned.

"Boss, look! Those carriages are gorgeous!"

"How much do you think a carriage like that costs? The people inside must be loaded!"

"Yeah, yeah! If we robbed them..."

SMACK—! SMACK—!

The leader slapped both of his subordinates across the face.

"Are your brains filled with shit water? You think ordinary people ride in carriages like that?"

He might have had ideas about profiting from the war, but he was keenly aware of his own limitations.

Robbing ordinary people was one thing, but if they provoked someone powerful, they’d be dead before they knew what hit them.

He hurriedly ordered his men to put away their weapons. Just then, the curtain of one of the carriages was pulled aside. A quick glance inside revealed two stunningly beautiful women and a Half-Beastman.

And, of course, the young man who had opened the curtain.

He looked very young, likely not even twenty years old, but his clothes were clearly of exceptional quality.

"Gentlemen, is there a problem?"

Lin Mo’s eyes narrowed as he looked at the bandits and the traps and barricades they had set on the road.

"No, no..."

The leader immediately waved his hands. "Young Master, this is all a misunderstanding! My brothers and I just got here. We saw some inconsiderate person left all this junk here, and we were just about to clear it away!"

He spoke with such conviction, he almost sounded convincing.

If Lin Mo hadn’t used his Eagle Eye skill to see the vicious looks on their faces earlier, followed by their sudden change in expression, he might not have been one hundred percent certain they were villains.

"In that case, get back to clearing it."

Lin Mo shot him an indifferent glance, in no rush to act.

"This..."

The leader’s face froze. They had only just finished setting up those traps and barricades.

But the current situation left no room for hesitation. He could only call his men over to get to work.

Tearing down is always easier than building up. In no time at all, the road was clear.

"Young Master, you see? We’ve cleared it all for you. You can pass right through..."

The bandit leader said, bowing and scraping.

"Mm."

Lin Mo nodded in satisfaction. "A job well done."

The bandit leader visibly sighed in relief. "As long as you’re satisfied."

It seemed they had gotten through this ordeal.

The next second, however, Lin Mo’s tone shifted abruptly. "Since the work is finished, there’s no more use for any of you."

The man was stunned. He started to say something, but as he raised his head, he saw a flash of lightning arc through the air.

The bolt of lightning instantly pierced his skull, leaving a gaping, bloody hole in his forehead.

With a look of pure shock on his face, the bandit leader’s body crumpled to the ground.

The remaining bandits panicked and tried to flee in all directions.

However, Lin Mo merely raised a hand. A [Spiral Wind Vortex] shot out, sucking them all into it. The sharp winds instantly sliced them into pieces.

People who prey on their own kind during a crisis are more despicable than any foreign enemy. They couldn’t be allowed to live.

Unexpectedly, killing these bandits actually increased his Skill Proficiency by a fair amount.

[Thunder Strike Skill] Skill Proficiency +1

[Spiral Wind Vortex] Skill Proficiency +9

On second thought, it made sense. Both skills were Excellent Level, and he hadn’t yet reached the point of diminishing returns for gaining proficiency. Even if these bandits had no real power, a normal adult human was more than comparable to an Ordinary Goblin.

"It’s getting late. Let’s get back on the road."

Lin Mo glanced at the sky. It was probably around four or five in the afternoon.

If they pushed on, they might be able to reach their first destination before sunset.

Their previous journey from Roland Town to Silver Stream City had taken more than two full days. But back then, their party was larger, including Alton and his family. The carriages were also just ordinary ones, so they naturally couldn’t travel very fast.

This time, however, was different. The carriages were special-issue from Silver Stream City, and the animals pulling them were not ordinary horses. They were a type of domesticated Demon: the Windstepping Horse.

They had ridden in carriages pulled by these Demons before, both when rushing to the battlefield and when they traveled to the Secret Silver Mine.

Windstepping Horses were Demons that specialized in Agility. Their Combat Power was quite weak compared to other Demons of the same Level, but they were exceptionally fast. Their Endurance was also decent, which was why they had been domesticated to pull carriages.

Of course, they were still much slower than the likes of Lin Mo and Shefilya. For a long journey, however, traveling by carriage was more comfortable and conserved Physical Strength. Besides, the party also included Professionals like Feney and Ali, whose Agility wasn’t as high. To them, the speed of the Windstepping Horses was rather impressive.
