Chapter 384 - 207: Madam Chacher’s Gift of Supplies, a Future Dragon Knight?

Chapter 384: Chapter 207: Madam Chacher’s Gift of Supplies, a Future Dragon Knight?

Now that the decision had been made, the plan to support Lania City quickly entered a phase of intense preparations.

Unlike a conventional siege defense, their primary objective this time was to protect civilians. Their secondary objective was to eliminate and repel the Goblins attacking Lania City as much as possible, and then to enact a final reckoning for the Lawrence Clan’s long-standing misdeeds.

So, whether it was the Guards or the Adventurers like Lin Mo going to help, their initial target was not the main city of Lania, but the surrounding towns and villages that were more vulnerable to Goblin attacks.

With the Lawrence Clan having concentrated most of its forces in the main city, it was easy to imagine that the surrounding towns and villages would suffer even greater losses from the lack of defenders.

Therefore, speed was of the essence.

The Guards had already made preparations and were ready to set out early the next morning.

However, it would probably take some time to rally the Adventurers.

Besides, there probably wouldn’t be as many Adventurers accepting this quest. Unlike defending Silver Stream City, Lania City wasn’t their usual area of operation, so a Goblin invasion there wouldn’t affect their personal interests. Everyone had also just been through a war, and many wanted to rest for a while. Lania City was also far away, and heading to the battlefield involved considerable risk...

Even the Adventurer’s Association, though it would still post the quest, wouldn’t offer rewards as generous as those during the previous siege defense.

For all these reasons, the Adventurers would struggle to be the main force of this operation.

Consequently, in the planned operation, the area assigned to the Adventurers was not very large.

But among those assignments happened to be a place Lin Mo was quite familiar with—Roland Town.

The start of it all, the place where he first arrived.

Lin Mo had many unforgettable memories of Roland Town, of the blacksmith Edgar, who had once placed his faith in him, and of his first Adventurer companions: Bain, Evan, and Millian.

’I wonder if they’re alright.’

Honestly, Lin Mo was a little worried...

So, early the next morning, he hurried to the City Lord’s Mansion.

Shefilya and Ali followed behind him. Since they were setting out for the campaign today, they hadn’t practiced the [Cultivator Companion] Skill last night.

Shefilya’s desire to investigate this ability of Lin Mo’s through practice had to be put aside for the time being.

It was still early, and when they arrived at Feney’s room, the young woman was still curled up under the covers. She was wearing pink pajamas and a cute sleeping cap, and her drowsy appearance made her look like a fluffy little lamb.

"Miss, it’s time to get up."

Shefilya reminded her softly, standing at the edge of the bed.

"Mmm... okay~"

Feney did respond, her eyes cracking open as she mumbled a reply.

But she immediately pulled the blanket higher, covering the lower half of her face.

Shefilya was used to this. But instead of continuing to press her as usual, she said lightly, "Master... Mr. Lin Mo is waiting for you, too."

"Mmm~ Mr. Lin Mo... hehe~"

Upon hearing his name, the half-asleep Feney suddenly let out a silly giggle. "Mr. Lin Mo, I... I want a hug..."

"..."

Lin Mo, standing right there, was suddenly a bit embarrassed. He had seen Feney this drowsy right after waking up before, but that was out in the wilderness, in the middle of an adventure. ’Was she consciously holding back then?’

Fortunately, Feney’s mind finally processed the meaning behind Shefilya’s words. She shuddered, her eyes flying wide open as her gaze became perfectly clear.

She then turned her head, a little stiffly, and her gaze met Lin Mo’s.

In the next second, as if she were a boiling kettle, "steam" seemed to pour from the top of Feney’s head. Her entire face, including the tips of her ears, turned completely red.

"I’m sorry, I... I’ll get up right away..."

Lin Mo smiled and nodded, then left the room with Ali.

A hint of teasing amusement appeared in Shefilya’s eyes. Miss Feney, who usually needed her help to get dressed properly after waking up, was now changing at an astonishing speed.

By the time Feney walked out of the room, she was already back in her usual Church Nun attire.

She wore a large white hat, its brim pulled down so low it concealed half her face. She was obviously still embarrassed.

’Adorable.’

Lin Mo gently placed his hand on top of her head, patting it through the hat.

Feney’s toes curled, gripping the floor. She was tense, but soon relaxed under Lin Mo’s touch. Without drawing attention to herself, she shuffled a couple of steps to his side, moving a little closer.

"Let’s go. It’s time to set off."

This wasn’t the time for sentimental moments, however. Lin Mo quickly turned serious and led the group out of the City Lord’s Mansion.

He hadn’t forgotten what Madam Chacher had said the day before. So, before heading to the city gate to catch a carriage, he first went to Adventurer Street, to Madam Chacher’s Alchemy Shop.

As he pushed the door open, a crisp bell chimed.

Madam Chacher was exceptionally well-dressed today, as if she were preparing to attend a banquet. Her hair was meticulously styled, and she was even wearing perfume.

"You’re here?"

She was still sitting in her lounge chair. She nodded as Lin Mo pushed the door open, her gaze quickly shifting to Feney, who was standing behind him. A satisfied smile spread across her face.
