Chapter 337: Chapter 192: The Ingenious Use of [Flash]
’We can’t hold on like this...’
At the rear, the injured Commander Joel frowned, his face filled with a pained expression as he watched the Guards ahead.
"Bishop Fletcher, please, you must act!"
Fletcher nodded, his expression grim. "I can only cast this Magic twice at most, but given the situation, it seems I have no choice but to use it now..."
The words had barely left his lips when he raised his Magic Staff. A brilliant ray of Holy Light burst forth from its tip. The light grew brighter and soared higher, finally reaching high into the sky and illuminating a patch of it as if it were day.
The Holy Light poured down, its golden radiance forming an inverted bowl that transformed into an ever-expanding Barrier.
In the area bathed by the golden light, the injured soldiers felt a jolt as their wounds began to heal.
Most of the Goblins were even held back outside the Barrier, unable to break through for the moment. This gave the soldiers and Adventurers on the front line a much-needed respite.
Bishop Fletcher’s face, however, instantly turned pale. He seemed to have aged significantly in that moment.
The hand he used to hold his Magic Staff began to tremble, and his whole body started to shake. Finally, as if completely drained of strength, he collapsed backward.
A nearby Priest immediately caught him, crying out in concern, "Bishop, are you alright?"
Fletcher waved his hand. "I’m fine. The cost was just too great. I’ll recover in a little while..."
’What a powerful Skill!’
Lin Mo’s eyes were wide with shock. Bishop Fletcher’s Holy Light Barrier had a staggering range of several hundred meters, blanketing nearly the entire central battlefield where the fighting was most intense.
Moreover, this Holy Light Barrier seemed to have two effects: one was to block enemy attacks, and the other was to heal allies within its range.
It was the most incredible Skill Lin Mo had ever seen.
It wasn’t so much a Skill as it was some kind of domain or a blessing...
’I don’t believe an Ordinary Priest could possess such an ability.’
’It’s most likely related to his status as a Holy Light Church Bishop. In other words, it’s probably a power derived from faith, or a divine gift.’
’Of course, the price for using such power is enormous. Bishop Fletcher is an Elite Level Professional at the very least, but a single use of this Skill left him looking completely drained, his condition immediately deteriorating.’
’Then again, that makes sense. If a Skill like that didn’t have serious limitations, Silver Stream City wouldn’t have to worry about Goblins at all.’
Bishop Fletcher’s intervention helped relieve some of the pressure on a portion of the soldiers, but this was only temporary. The Holy Light Barrier soon disappeared, and the Goblins charged forward again.
However, the soldiers and Adventurers had already cleaned out the Goblins who had been caught inside the Barrier. This gave them enough time to reorganize their ranks. Combined with the Healing and Physical Strength recovery from the Holy Light Barrier, the affected soldiers were practically back to full health.
Faced with this development, the Goblins grew visibly more frantic. Countless Goblins surged forward, one wave after another, practically paving their way forward with corpses.
At the same time, a new batch of powerful Goblins began to pour onto the battlefield.
Lin Mo’s work, too, was proceeding in full swing.
Shadow Splitting!
He used Shadow Splitting again, summoning his Clone. The two split up, targeting the powerful Goblins.
It was worth noting that, perhaps because of the brutal effectiveness of his earlier Blizzard, the more powerful Goblins had avoided grouping up. Instead, they scattered and blended into the main Goblin Army, clearly afraid of being wiped out in one go.
’I should have held back on using Blizzard,’ he thought. ’If I had, maybe the Goblins, frustrated by their lack of progress, would have gathered their elite forces into a vanguard squad. One Blizzard then would have been a massive windfall.’
He shook his head, deciding to focus on the present.
Lin Mo’s primary targets were naturally the Giant Goblins, whose massive size made them the most dangerous threat to the Ordinary soldiers on the front line.
These creatures were strong, to be sure, but their massive size wasn’t always an advantage on the battlefield. Lin Mo could spot them with a single glance, rush over, and kill them instantly.
The smaller Bronze Goblins, on the other hand, were more troublesome. Amidst the chaos of the Goblin Army, Lin Mo found it difficult to spot them right away. He usually only noticed them after they had already caused trouble on the front lines, by which point casualties had already been taken.
The more powerful Adventurers and the few officers free from command duties were doing the same as Lin Mo.
But the Goblins had obviously realized this as well and took countermeasures.
Many Adventurers roaming the battlefield were ambushed by powerful Goblins while trying to deal with Goblin Elites.
This naturally included Lin Mo.
He had just unleashed a Sword Charge Strike, killing the Giant Goblin in front of him, when he suddenly felt a biting gust of wind assail him from the side.
Thanks to his numerous sparring sessions with Shefilya, Lin Mo’s combat instincts had improved by leaps and bounds. He instantly detected the ambusher.
