Chapter 243 - 160: Excellent Level Magic Blizzard
Chapter 243: Chapter 160: Excellent Level Magic Blizzard
With that, the final point he needed for his Basic Strength Attribute was filled.
The next moment, an uplifting notification appeared.
"Advancement conditions met. Professional Warrior (Level 3) has advanced to Professional Warrior (Level 4)."
"Received Professional Attribute Amplification: Strength +2, Constitution +2, Agility +1!"
As expected, the advancement from Level 3 to Level 4 granted one more point of Attribute Amplification than the one from Level 2 to Level 3.
’Keep it up!’
’I can’t miss such a great opportunity.’ Lin Mo quickly skimmed the information, then raised his Shield and charged forward, once again activating [Earth-Splitting Strike].
"BOOM—!"
With a roar like an explosion, Lin Mo smashed another massive crater into the ground. The earth in a wide radius cracked apart, and all the Goblin Guards and Mutated Goblins in range were sent flying into the air.
The ensuing shockwave spread out, killing another large wave of Goblins.
[Earth-Splitting Strike] Skill Level +8!
[Earth-Splitting Strike] Skill Level +9!
...
Another flood of Skill Level points came in. Though not as many as last time, it was still 89 points.
"Skill [Earth-Splitting Strike] Lv4 (100/100) has leveled up!"
"Current Skill: [Earth-Splitting Strike] Lv5 (26/180)"
’This is progressing way too fast!’
’Then again, the monsters killed by [Earth-Splitting Strike] don’t seem to increase the Skill Level for [Rock Shield Technique]. Maybe it’s because the kills don’t rely on the Rock Shield, but on the concussive force from smashing the Shield down, including the resulting shockwave...’
’And the cost of this Skill is considerable.’
’It’s higher than any of my previous Excellence Level Skills.’
’Well, it makes sense. A wide-area AOE that also provides some crowd control—it’d be weirder if a Skill like this didn’t have a high cost.’
He had rushed here from Silver Stream City and thrown himself into battle without a moment’s rest. Even though Lin Mo had much more Qi and Blood than the other Adventurers, his reserves were now running dangerously low.
This was a problem the other Adventurers would soon have to face as well.
Many of the Adventurers were almost out of Qi and Blood.
The same went for the Mages. Other than Landon, who still had considerable reserves, the others’ Magic Power was nearly depleted.
Fortunately, the number of Goblin Guards had been drastically reduced. And since Lin Mo had already taken care of those pesky Archers, the pressure on the Adventurers wasn’t too intense. They even had the breathing room to conserve some Qi and Blood, fighting the Goblins with only their basic Techniques.
Now, it was a battle of endurance.
Clearly, although Goblins had evolved intelligent individuals through their unique process, these lower-level specimens were still no match for humans when it came to a battle of wits.
The sharp decline in the number of Goblin Guards forced the commander behind the scenes to act.
And so, the Tier Four Ranger and Mage Goblins, who had been quiet for a time, reappeared. From the depths of the underground cavern, out of the pitch-black darkness, came the sound of heavy footsteps.
’So it’s finally coming!’
Lin Mo’s expression turned grim. ’The real opponent is about to show itself.’
"THUD—THUD—"
The dull thuds made the Adventurers tense up, their gazes darting forward whenever they found an opening.
Finally, a massive figure appeared in the firelight.
Its body was a deep green, its skin much darker than that of a regular Goblin. It looked similar to the Giant Goblin that had fought Torren, but it was even larger, standing nearly four meters tall!
It was obviously stronger than the previous Giant Goblin.
’Level 5?’
Lin Mo stared at the massive frame, trying to gauge its strength.
’But there’s only one way to find out!’
Of course, he wasn’t about to charge in recklessly. Instead, he channeled his Magic Power and fired a [Flaming Arrow] at the creature.
Lin Mo hadn’t used this Skill much before.
As a single-target Magic spell, its power was certainly decent. However, Lin Mo had more effective Warrior and Assassin Skills for taking on tough opponents, while he mainly used his Mage Skills for clearing mobs and dealing AOE damage. This left the Skill in an awkward position, and it was still only Level 1.
However, as Lin Mo’s Magic Power had increased, this Skill was becoming useful for fighting powerful enemies.
At the very least, it could serve as a stronger long-range option than Basic Magic like the [Wind Blade Skill] and the [Ice Cone Skill].
Seeing the Flaming Arrow shoot toward it, the Giant Goblin’s face twisted into a surprisingly human-like expression of disdain. It swatted out with a massive palm, knocking the arrow out of the air.
However, Lin Mo was a Level 3 Mage, with Magic Power approaching that of a Level 4 Mage. His Skills were not so easily dealt with.
Although the Giant Goblin swatted the Flaming Arrow apart, the intense heat left a clearly visible burn mark on its palm.
"GRAH—"
It let out a low growl of displeasure, and in the next moment, it charged straight for Lin Mo.
It certainly remembered this human; he had left a deep impression on it.
This one had killed countless of its kin. If not for him, it wouldn’t have had to intervene at all; these humans would have been wiped out long ago.
The enraged Giant Goblin focused all its attention on Lin Mo. Unafraid, Lin Mo cast Status Skills like [Resilience] and [Lightness] on himself, then stood his ground, calmly watching his opponent.
3, 2, 1...
He counted down silently. Just as the creature’s blade came within three meters of him, he suddenly sidestepped, perfectly dodging the attack.
