Adventure: My Skills Evolve Infinitely

Chapter 239 - 159: Level 3 Knight, New Skill Earth-Splitting Strike

Chapter 239: Chapter 159: Level 3 Knight, New Skill Earth-Splitting Strike

Lin Mo activated Invisibility and, just as before, made his way directly behind the Goblin Guards, locating the ones firing from the back.

Compared to the gate guards from before, the numbers of this regular army were on a completely different level. There were forty to fifty Goblin Archers alone, and they even coordinated with each other. They split into two ranks, front and back; one would fire, and the other would follow up. This short gap was just enough time for the first rank to draw and nock their bows again... As a result, the volley of arrows flying toward the Adventurers was almost uninterrupted, coming one wave after another.

’If I take these guys out first, it’ll make things much easier for the front-line Adventurers, especially the Knights.’

Lin Mo repeated the same tactic as before.

Ice Crystal Fall!

A shower of fine ice crystals rained down upon the Goblin Archers. Any that were caught within the spell’s range were almost instantly frozen solid and pierced through...

’After leveling up again, the skill’s area of effect seems to have expanded a little.’

A flurry of notifications floated up before Lin Mo’s eyes.

[Ice Crystal Fall] Proficiency +8

[Ice Crystal Fall] Proficiency +9

...

After using and studying it for so long, Lin Mo had come to understand some of the underlying principles of Magic.

A Skill’s power and range were mostly determined by one’s Magic Power and the Skill’s Level. Beyond that, Magic wasn’t rigid. It could be adjusted by controlling the output of Magic Power, just as Physical Professions controlled their strength and Qi and Blood.

Of course, this adjustment could only be used to scale things down, either to conserve power or to intentionally hold back.

To break past a skill’s existing limits and increase its power by overloading it with Magic Power, you would need a special Skill like the "Magic Amplification" on his Secret Silver Gloves.

Focusing his mind, Lin Mo once again gathered the Ice Element in his palm, preparing to cast Ice Crystal Fall again.

At that very moment, however, a figure suddenly appeared behind and to his side, lunging at Lin Mo.

Lin Mo, who had remained on high alert, was not surprised. Without a hint of panic, he unleashed the already-formed spell before quickly spinning around, Black Sword in hand, to slash at his attacker.

Sword Storing and Continuous Slash!

Magic Power and Qi and Blood belonged to two separate systems, so Lin Mo’s sequence of actions was perfectly fluid, executed in a near-instant.

Three waves of Sword Qi shot out, startling the attacker, who came to a sudden halt and managed to dodge them.

’So fast...’

Lin Mo’s heart went cold. ’This has to be a Level 4 Assassin! And not just a new Level 4, but Level 4.5 or higher!’

After all, Lin Mo’s assassin level was only Level 2. While the numerous Attribute bonuses from his Profession meant his Agility could match or even exceed that of a Level 3 Assassin, he was still a far cry from a Level 4.5 Assassin.

In that fleeting moment, he only managed to catch a glimpse of the creature’s grayish-blue skin. ’It must be a Bronze Level Goblin.’

The Assassin immediately dodged back into the darkness and vanished.

’Annoying pest!’

Lin Mo snorted, but his hands never stopped moving. He cast Rock Shield Technique, forming a massive Rock Shield. He then raised the Shield and resumed his charge toward the Goblin Archers.

’I don’t need to chase that thing. If I just keep killing its comrades, it’ll get desperate and come to me.’

Giant Shield Charge!

It was the same simple combo as before. He bulldozed a path forward, mowing down every Goblin he encountered.

As he rampaged through their ranks, he not only killed numerous Goblin Archers but, more importantly, completely shattered their formation. The surviving Goblin Archers could no longer maintain their disciplined volleys.

At the same time, the other Assassins among the Adventurers launched their own attacks, also focusing their efforts on the Goblin Archers.

In response, the Goblin Assassins naturally weren’t going to just sit back and defend.

"Watch out!"

A Warrior quickly drew his sword and knocked a flying dagger from the air, moving to shield the Ranger behind him.

"Everyone, be careful! The Goblin Assassins are on the move!"

There was a considerable number of Goblin Assassins, and for a moment, similar assassination attempts erupted all over the battlefield.

Fortunately, thanks to the Adventurers’ relatively stable formation, the Goblins couldn’t easily break through the lines. A fair number were even killed in counterattacks.

But not everyone was so lucky. The Adventurers’ skill levels varied, so casualties were inevitable. Some Warriors were even targeted and brought down by two or three Goblins assassinating them in tandem!

"Dammit!"

Torren was frantic. The enemies on this mission were far stronger than he had anticipated; it was safe to say they were completely beyond the capabilities of his group of Adventurers.

’If we keep fighting like this, I’m afraid...’

His focus wavered for just a moment, and the Giant Goblin before him seized the opportunity, bringing its Curved Blade down in a vicious overhead chop.

Torren could only raise his weapon in a hurried block. The impact felt like a heavy blow, and blood trickled from the corner of his mouth.

’Dammit!’

He gritted his teeth, holding his ground with all his might. Finally finding an opening to deflect the force and disengage, he immediately retaliated with an Iron Sword Slash.

Caught off guard, the Giant Goblin took the hit, leaving a gash nearly half a meter long across its body.

The gash was long but not deep. It had only broken the skin and barely sliced into the muscle beneath; the damage was minimal.

Torren gripped his sword hilt, his hand trembling slightly. Though the situation was dire, his eyes showed no trace of fear.

The next moment, he took the initiative, stepping forward to press the attack.

Elsewhere, the duel between Landon and the enemy Goblin Caster continued.
