As the Diva’s son, his status was extraordinary, and it was a given that he wouldn’t be mixing around with just any other children.

Xia Ling hired a home tutor to guide him along with the unspoken rules and civilities of the high society. The child picked the lessons up quickly, and before long, he was doing all things right and behaving just like a cute little princess… no, prince. Well, it was time for this innocent little prince to face the world.

She held a grand garden party.

Members of the high society, as well as their children, were invited. She also extended the invitation to a few reporters, giving them a chance to cover the Diva and her precious child’s first public appearance.

“Heir of a Billionaire”—the reporters had the headlines in mind.

Indeed, even before the party took place, many were already talking about how lucky the child was. He was the only son of the popular Diva Ye Xingling, and if she was to remain unmarried for the rest of her life — which seemed highly likely — he would inherit her massive fortune.

An abandoned child with no one caring for him had turned into a blessed child overnight.

“If looking foolish and innocent would mean being adopted by Ye Xingling, I wouldn’t mind it myself.” One of the reporters said to his mentor as he waited for the start of the event.

His mentor was Xu Fosheng, an experienced professional in the industry who wrote for the biggest local entertainment magazine, “Star Entertainment Weekly.” She was looking at a very expensive camera and did not even bother to look up. “You? Forget it, you’re even older than Ye Xingling.”

“Then let my son try it out!” He clenched his fists, unwilling to give up the thought. “If that means he’ll inherit billions of dollars worth in assets, I’m… I’m willing!”

“Haha.” Xu Fosheng sneered.

She was Sister Mai Na’s friend and had done a feature of Ye Xingling when she debuted many years ago. In a way, she had seen how this girl had grown and overcome her obstacles all the way.

“Ye Xingling came from a humble family,” she finally finished adjusting her camera and was taking a few casual shots. “At her lowest, she was despised by others even when she entered a mid-range boutique. Do you think she had it easy?”

“Did she not?” The younger reporter pouted. “She married well, that beats anything. Cinderella somehow managed to marry Pei Ziheng, and after the divorce, she inherited 1 billion yuan from him… In that case, it seems like Chairman Pei is extremely generous. Is there any chance that he likes men? Say, men like me?”

He began stroking his chin in thought.

Xu Fosheng rolled her eyes. What’s with young people these days?

She shoved the camera to him. “Take more photos of the child.” There were too many people of power and status at the party — property tycoons, chiefs and presidents of companies and the like — but only inexperienced reporters would be snapping photos of them. These big shots were in public all the time, it was the children that were more rarely seen. Hence, this was a good time to take more photos of the young ones and how the next generation of high society interacted.

The younger reporter was still in a daydream and only got to work after being instructed.

Xu Fosheng helped herself to a cocktail at the buffet area and seemed to be strolling leisurely around the area as she looked for anything newsworthy. Although there were many outstanding and famous people all around, her intuition from years of being a reporter told her that the most important guests had yet to arrive—

Pei Ziheng and Li Lei were both not here yet.

She was sure that they would come.

All these years, Pei Ziheng had not missed any of Ye Xingling’s important events, even if it meant rescheduling Imperial Entertainment’s important matters. As for Li Lei, rumors had it that he had returned just for Ye Xingling, though Xu Fosheng didn’t understand why he’d take his wife and child along to look for her.

No, wait, was Su Tang even his wife?

This was still a question mark.

Xu Fosheng narrowed her eyes…

She remembered a news article from overseas, mentioning that Su Tang was pregnant and that Li Lei held a wedding with her. With that, everybody simply assumed that they were husband and wife.

But Xu Fosheng felt that there was more to that.

Having spent all these years in the entertainment news industry, she had learned to trust her gut. It was her gut and intuition that led her to become the Number One of that industry.

She made a calculated speculation: If Li Lei is really back for Ye Xingling, he definitely wouldn’t have taken his “wife and child” along. After all, which man would take his legal wife to face the mistress? Given Ye Xingling’s pride, she wouldn’t allow this.

In that case, there are only two possibilities —

Li Lei is not back for Ye Xingling; or, he and Su Tang aren’t even married!

Xu Fosheng’s eyes sparkled and excitement rose in her.

“He’s here! He’s here!” Some commotion started.

She looked up and saw that Li Lei had arrived.

He was in a light colored suit which complemented his tanned skin tone splendidly. There was a scar on the left side of his face, but it did not make him look bad. If anything, he looked even more manly and charming. He held a little boy in one hand — the boy was in a suit as well and appeared to be Eurasian-looking.

“That’s Li Rui!” The younger reporter had ended up beside Xu Fosheng and was excitedly snapping shots of Li Lei and the boy he was holding.

To be honest, among all the children of these high society members, and besides Shaohui who had not been seen by the public, Li Rui was the least featured — this child had just returned from overseas and everything about him thus far was unknown. Yet, he was also an heir of a billionaire, which made him the talk of the town.

Li Rui was obedient as he followed Li Lei, but his face was frozen in a stiff smile the entire time. It was Li Lei, his “father,” who smiled more naturally and was more charming.

“They don’t look like father and son.” The younger reporter commented.

Xu Fosheng nodded her head. In fact, besides the fact that they both looked Eurasian, the child did not resemble Li Lei in terms of his facial features.

The younger reporter then exclaimed, “To me, he looks like he’s Pei Ziheng’s son instead.”

Xu Fosheng raised her brows and side-eyed the younger reporter.

He said, “They have the same stony expression.”

Xu Fosheng almost laughed when she heard this. It was true, Li Rui did appear to resemble Pei Ziheng more, in terms of their mannerism. But…

“You’ve underestimated the Pei family’s education and upbringing.” Xu Fosheng said.
