"Son, go to town and report to the police." Li Yanan tossed aside the broom that she had already smashed and said to Chen Hao.
"I’ll go right now." Chen Hao pushed out his bicycle, and the villagers made space for him. Chen Hao pedaled forcefully and rushed toward town.
Chen Dali’s face was pale, clutching his crotch with his head hanging down, his eyes filled with despair.

"Officers, you finally came." The villagers cleared a path for the police to enter the yard.
"Follow me." Chen Hao led the way and brought them to Li Yanan.
"Officers, here’s the situation! This man climbed the wall and sneaked into my daughter’s room late at night. He used a knife to open the door latch and attempted to assault my daughter." Li Yanan pointed at Chen Dali and explained the events truthfully to the police.
"Are you sure it’s not consensual?" One male officer, having dealt with many such cases, looked at Li Yanan and asked.
Everyone’s expression dropped after hearing this.
The other three officers knew their colleague had asked the wrong question, angering the crowd.
As tension suddenly rose, Fu Xiaoxiao slowly stepped forward.
"I’m certain it’s not, because at the time I was in the same room with my sister. This man accidentally kicked the small stool at the door, which is how I discovered him. The police nodded. If she were still a military spouse, Chen Dali’s crime would be much more serious.
"My Sister Chen Xiu isn’t a military spouse, I am." Fu Xiaoxiao knew military families generally receive protection, so she revealed her status directly.
Upon hearing Fu Xiaoxiao was a military spouse, the four officers exchanged glances.
