Chapter 182 - During the Reign of Kangxi

Chapter 182: During the Reign of Kangxi

After writing the bet down, Qin Haodong handed the 20,000 yuan to the woman and said, “I don’t like to be watched when treating the patient. Take them to wait for me in the yard.”

“Yes.”

The woman answered immediately on hearing Qin Haodong’s request for she was in fear of the ghost or the similar thing. She left the room and waited outside while Ma Guoli and the nurses went back to their ambulance.

After they left, Qin Haodong opened the door and walked into Fatty Wang’s room.

Fatty Wang, who was roaring and wielding the knife, slashed toward the door when it was opened.

Qin Haodong reached out his hand and brought appear of the mirror of Yin-Yang, which he had learned well how to use. He held the mirror with its yin side facing Fatty Wang and shouted, “Come out, you devil.”

A golden light flashed out from the mirror and disappeared into between Fatty Wang’s eyebrows. Fatty Wang was frozen like a statue, and black mist rose from the top of his head and transformed into a woman covered in red.

At first, the woman showed a ferocious look, but when she saw the mirror of Yin-Yang in Qin Haodong’s hands, she looked terrified because as a ghost, she could feel out of her instinct the power of the mirror.

She immediately begged for mercy. “Please don’t kill me, master.”

Qin Haodong rebuked her. “The dead should go for their reincarnation and reborn. Why do you still wander in mortal world and hurt human beings?”

“Master, please help me! I’m a poor girl, died of injustice.” The ghost threw herself at Qin Haodong’s feet and kowtowed to him continuously.

“Tell me what you have suffered,” said Qin Haodong.

“I was born in an ordinary family and had a poor yet happy life with my husband and son. However, Zhang Dahu coveted me and beat my husband to death. He even killed my son, a two-year-old boy, by smashing him. After that, I was grabbed into his home.

“I was so desperate and irritated. To take revenge, I dressed in red and hung myself at midnight, wanting to take his life as a ghost.

“But I didn’t expect, after I died, he asked a powerful Taoist for help and suppressed me in a Guanyin statue. Not until several days ago the statue was broken could I break free from it. I must take revenge from Zhang Dahu, master, please help me. I’m totally at the mercy of you after that.”

At this point, the ghost was choked with sobs.

Qin Haodong let out a long sigh and was moved by her poor fate. “When were you born?” he asked.

The ghost answered in amazement, “What do you mean, master? I’m unlearned and didn’t get your point.”

On hearing her words, Qin Haodong explained, “I mean, which dynasty were you in before you died? What’s the reign title?”

“I was born in Qing Dynasty and during the reign of His Majesty Kangxi,” the ghost said.

“Do you know how many years have passed after you died?”

“I don’t know.”

“Three hundred years! I’m afraid Zhang Dahu has been through reincarnation several times, so, you got nobody to avenge now.”

“What! Three hundred years?”

The ghost was astonished by what she heard. When locked in the statue, she lived in dark and lost track of time, thinking nothing but revenge. She did not expect three hundred years had passed in the blink of an eye.

Qin Haodong said, “A man dies the way a lamp goes out. Since Zhang Dahu is dead, let go of the grudge and go for your reincarnation.”

The ghost regained her sense slowly. Her will of staying in that world had gone with the death of Zhang Dahu. “Master, I can’t find my way of reincarnation now,” said she.

Qin Haodong held the mirror up and said to her, “This treasure can communicate with both yin and yang world. Let me lead you to it.”

“Thank you, master!”

The ghost kowtowed to Qin Haodong again and dived toward the mirror of Yin-Yang, and as a light flashed across the mirror, the ghost disappeared into it.

At the moment, Fatty Wang gave a shiver, and his eyes regained their focus.

Though he had been possessed by the ghost, he knew clearly what had happened around him. He knelt down in front of Qin Haodong and said, “Thank you for saving me, little brother. I owe you a big favor.”

“Get up, please. Go to see your wife first.”

Qin Haodong helped Fatty Wang up and went out of the room together.

Fatty Wang’s wife, who had been waiting in the yard, could not believe her eyes when she saw Fatty Wang walk out with Qin Haodong in a normal manner and that there was no trace of madness on his face.

“Li… little brother, is my husband cured now?” she asked Qin Haodong hesitantly.

Qin Haodong did not answer her but turned to Fatty Wang, “Why don’t you say something to your wife?”

Fatty Wang took two steps forward, looked at the bruise on his wife’s face, and said in a guilty tone, “I’m so sorry, dear.”

“Oh, you’re fine now! I’m so happy!”

Sure that Fatty Wang’s mental condition had returned normal, the woman threw herself into Fatty Wang’s arms and cried out loud for she had been under too much grievance and pressure during the days.

Qin Haodong turned to Ma Guoli, who stood watching aside, and said, “As you see, I’ve cured the patient, so, isn’t it the time to fulfill your promise?”

The best way to punish a doctor who cared for nothing but money was to take his money out of his pocket, therefore, Qin Haodong made a bet of 20,000 yuan with him.

Ma Guoli was dumbfounded by what he had seen, and he never thought that this young man really cured a manic psychotic in ten minutes.

On hearing Qin Haodong’s words, the doctor changed his expression. He shouted, “Don’t talk nonsense. His disease must be intermittent, and it will strike him later.”

He waved his hands at the two nurses behind him and ordered, “Catch the patient, and this young man is in poor mental health as well. Take him to the hospital with us.”

After that, the doctor turned on the baton in his hand and charged at Qin Haodong.

Qin Haodong was so annoyed that the doctor not only wanted to go back against his words but also wanted to take him away as a psychotic.

He dodged the baton, which was glittering with blue electric arcs, and grabbed and twisted Ma Guoli’s arm. With the move, the baton hit Ma Guoli’s leg.

“Ah!” Ma Guoli screamed in pain and jerked under the powerful electric current. His legs went limp, and he collapsed on the ground.

Seeing that the doctor was overpowered by Qin Haodong, the two nurses immediately stopped their movement and hid behind Ma Guoli with an expression of fear.

Looking at Ma Guoli, whose face was pale and whose hair stood on end, Qin Haodong walked near him and said with a cold smile, “How did it feel to be hit by an electric baton, which you used to hit others? It must feel good, right?”

“You… you…”

Ma Guoli tried to struggle up but failed several times as he was aching and limp all over after being struck.

“What do you want?” He asked, looking at Qin Haodong nervously.

“It’s not that way, man. It’s just that you should keep your words.”

As he said that, Qin Haodong took out the written bet from his pocket. “It’s written here if I could cure the patient in ten minutes, you will give them 20,000 yuan.”

Ma Guoli bit his lips and argued, “But you didn’t cure him. His good spirits is just an illusion, so, I didn’t lose to you.”

Qin Haodong showed meaningful smile as he thought, “This man values money more than his life. He is still thinking of cheating me out of a debt at this point.”

He then turned to Fatty Wang, “Brother Wang, I heard that psychotics were not responsible for whatever they did. Since this doctor insists you are not recovered from psychosis, how about I leave him to you?”

On hearing the words, Fatty Wang, full of so much anger that he was nearly put into a psychiatric hospital, grabbed an axe aside, strode to in front of Ma Guoli, and held it high to hit him.

Not having expected that Qin Haodong would come up with such an idea, Ma Guoli wetted his pants and cried at once, “Please don’t, I’ll give you the money now. I lost!”

Qin Haodong waved to stop Fatty Wang and said, “Tell him your bank account and let him give you the money.”

Fatty Wang put down the axe and asked his wife to hand a bank card to Ma Guoli.

Though under an avarice, Ma Guoli still took out his mobile phone and transferred the money into the account at the sight of the glittering axe in Fatty Wang’s hands.

Seeing this, Qin Haodong smiled, “That’s right. A man’s character could be embodied in a bet, and a great man will always honor a bet.”

Ma Guoli’s heart was aching for the 20,000 yuan he gave out, and he decided to cheat more psychotics to earn the money back.

However, Qin Haodong saw through his mind and said, “Cheating others for money by telling them they are psychotics, you don’t deserve to be a doctor. You should quit your job.”

Ma Guoli remained silent toward the words, but he thought to himself, “It’s not up to you anyway.”

However, after saying that, Qin Haodong took out his mobile phone, called Pan Gaofeng, the Director of the Sanitary Bureau, and told him what Ma Guoli had done in brief words.

Hearing that, Pan Gaofeng thundered, “I never thought we would have scum like him among us doctors. Doctor Qin, please rest assured, I’ll handle the matter.”

Regaining his strength from the electric stroke, Ma Guoli got up slowly and stretched his arms and legs, and his phone rang in his pocket at the moment.

He answered the call and heard the head of the hospital roar at him, “Bastard, what the hell were you doing? You’re fired!”

Panic-stricken, Ma Guoli immediately replied, “Sir, I can explain…”

Before he could finish his words, the head ended the call. He was in a terrible fix and could take in no excuse at the moment because a special group had been sent to investigate the management system of his hospital by the Sanitary Bureau.

Until then did Ma Guoli realize the young man in front of him was not kidding and could fire him with only a call.

He begged him at once. “Little Brother, please forgive me, please. I’ll never do that again, I promise.”

“Again? If Brother Wang were put into the psychiatric hospital, or I were a normal man and were put in, would we have a chance to anything again? You scum don’t deserve to be a doctor, get off now!”

To the doctor without any medical ethics like Ma Guoli, Qin Haodong had no mercy. A misdiagnose could destroy a man’s life no matter it was made by a psychiatrist or a normal doctor.

Fatty Wang raised the axe again and snapped at Ma Guoli, “Get off, didn’t you hear Doctor Qin?”

Seeing that there was no hope for him, Ma Guoli felt crestfallen and left with the two nurses.

After Ma Guoli left, Fatty Wang’s wife handed the band card and the cash of 20,000 yuan to Qin Haodong. “Little brother, they belong to you.”

Qin Haodong replied, “Take them for yourself, madam. Use them to tidy up your house and buy some nutritional supplements for Brother Wang, or he would be too thin to keep his nickname.”

Fatty Wang chimed in hurriedly, “No, we can’t take them, Doctor Qin. You saved me and I owe you so much now.”

Qin Haodong answered, “Let’s talk about it later because I want to buy something from you. Now, please tell me, where did you get the mirror which you used to blackmail me?”
