There was a portrait of the Vampire Count on the wall which was about five or six meters tall. Wearing a luxurious dark robe, his high collar covered his blood-red lips while his eyes stared into the dark, quiet castle.

Lin Jie took a few steps forward, but his heart suddenly beat faster.

He looked up and stared at the portrait. It seemed like a normal portrait—the Count still looked as elegant and mysterious as before…

Suddenly, the Count’s eyes moved!

Lin Jie was shocked. ‘Τhis portrait ιs alive!’ He immediately stopped in his tracks and tried to keep as silent as possible while he tried to hide.

‘Actually… no, this should be just a surveillance device operated by runes!’ Lin Jie took a deep breath and tried to calm himself down from the shock of seeing the moving portrait. He ordered the servant maid to walk up the stairs and decided to let her test the waters.

The portrait glared angrily, and there seemed to be ripples of air trying to expel the vampire servant maid which came forward. The servant maid continued on with a blank expression, faithfully executing Lin Jie’s orders.

Whoosh—

As if the air was being squeezed, the surveillance device suddenly fired several attacks which blew up the vampire servant maid into pieces!

‘It’s now or never!’ Making use of time when the portrait’s eyes focused on the attacks, Lin Jie rushed into the bedroom and closed the door!

After the servant maid was destroyed, the portrait’s eyes began to scan through the castle again with the support of the runes’ power. It was startled when it noticed the closed bedroom, but as many years had gone by and the effect of the runes was not as strong as before, it could no longer assess things logically.

Soon, the portrait closed its eyes and fell back into a deep sleep.

Lin Jie quietly listened to the movements outside the door. ‘The vampires shouldn’t have discovered me.’

Then, he looked around the room. He was standing in a gorgeous bedroom with a diamond-filled chandelier, a bookshelf made of sandalwood and yellow lima. There was also a four-meter-wide lion king’s mane bed.

No doubt, this was a bedroom befitting of the nobility!

Unfortunately, as there was a row of coffins erected in the room, it seemed extremely eerie and scary.

There was a total of five coffins, and four of them belonged to the Vampire Count’s Guardian Ghosts. These were Level 20 Ghost-like Elites, and they were one of the few types of monsters which could become Ghost-like in the early stages of the game. This skill allowed them to be completely immune to physical damage.

‘The Kiara Beast King Enchanted Gem must be in the hands of the Count! However… which coffin is the Count in? There’s only a 20% chance of identifying the correct coffin!’

Lin Jie stared at the coffins and tried to find some clues, but gave up soon as the coffins were placed in the exact same positions, angles and each of them looked exactly alike. Unless he opened the coffins to check them one by one… but this would not work! Once he opened a coffin which did not contain the Count, he would alarm the Level 20 Elite Guardian Ghost, and then he would be a goner!

‘Wait a second…’

Lin Jie looked at the few coffins, and suddenly had a wild thought, ‘Since Counts are usually males what would the favorite place of a male Count that liked to have occasional flings with pretty ladies in a bedroom be?’

The bed!

‘That’s it!’ Lin Jie stared at the coffin which was leaning against the bed.

Holding his breath, Lin Jie concentrated hard as he flipped open the coffin’s lid. There was only 1/5 chance of him getting the correct coffin!

A pale face was revealed. The eyes of the person lying inside the coffin were slightly closed, but sharp fangs were exposed outside his mouth, making him seem bloodthirsty.

‘It’s the Vampire Count!’

Lin Jie’s heart beat wildly. There were countless precious gems, ornaments, and gold bars placed in the Count’s coffin, but he was holding onto a jewel which was around the size of a grown man’s fist!

This was one of the Vampire Count’s signature terrible abilities. Unlike ordinary vampires which absorbed health points, it absorbed the maximum cap of its target’s health bar!

The Broken Blade thrust out. However, as its target was too small, all attacks were dodged by the fang. The series of misses irritated Lin Jie, making him extremely anxious. ‘I can’t go on like this! If not, the Vampire Count will be awakened!’

Once again, the fang slit across the vulnerable skin on Lin Jie’s face which was not covered by his armor, and the upper limit of its health bar increased. Lin Jie’s attacks had repeatedly failed, and he felt as if he was being played on.

The other Count’s Sucker Fang flew into Lin Jie’s back armor, but it was too late. The Withered Leaf Sword had pierced through the Vampire Count’s body, and it slit the blood vessels which was in the midst of the internal organs.

Normally, Sub-Legendary fragments would need to be inlaid by Superior, Master, or Grandmaster Blacksmiths to be able to exhibit their attributes completely. However, Lin Jie couldn’t be bothered with all these now as he needed to get out first!

A glaring ray of light shone from the fusion of the armor and the gem! Even though the vampires had covered their eyes immediately, they were still blinded temporarily by the strong light, something which they were always afraid of.

The light slowly dissipated, and the Kiara Beast King Armor which Lin Jie wore now seemed to be transformed! Although it was still like a skeleton, the luster of the gemstone made it give off a bright gleam, and the surface looked like it had been covered with lots of Anti-Mana Potion! The Anti-Mana Potion flowed like blood towards one spot——the enchanted gem in the middle of the armor!

However, the Withered Leaf Sword made a crisp sound, and Lin Jie dropped down, unbalanced. He hurriedly put the Withered Leaf Sword away in his backpack and climbed up the wall using the Broken Blade! It was unfortunate that there were too many Vampire Bats here, or else he would have stripped off of all his equipment and would have an easier climb.

With the help of Feather Drop skill and the Broken Blade as support, Lin Jie climbed towards the hole’s entrance with much difficulty. The Vampire Bats licked Lin Jie’s blood which dripped down from the wall, but under the scary defense capabilities of the Kiara Beast King Armor and the Life-Steal effect of the +8 Wolf Soul Necklace, they could only watch reluctantly as their prey left the castle’s boundaries.

Like a ghost movie, a hand broke through the earth and grabbed onto the edge of the hole. With a loud cry, Lin Jie finally got out of the castle’s boundaries and returned to the ground!

Lin Jie heaved a sigh of relief and sprawled out flat on the ground, refusing to move. However, a Skeleton Knight suddenly appeared! The flesh on his body had been corroded by the years which passed, and specks of blue light shone off from its skeleton. The Skeleton Knight was dressed in an old-fashioned Forward Charge Paladin’s armor, and there was a conspicuous emblem on his shoulder—that was the emblem of the former empire.

The Skeleton Knight’s sword was stained with a layer of dark black Undead Magic, and it slashed down the sword upon Lin Jie!

The Broken Blade collided with the Skeleton Knight’s sword, and Lin Jie pushed it away forcefully. The Skeleton Knight backed off unsteadily. Lin Jie activated Forward Charge and Army Obliteration!

Before his voice died away, two bloody slashes tore his body!

The Bandit looked down at his wound in horror. His lips trembled, but before he could say anything, he dropped down dead.

Aquatic Predator was shocked and furious. “How dare you attack us? Wth, brothers, kill him! Keep watch over his corpse until he deletes his account!”

Lin Jie’s eyes scanned the crowd. There were eight Mages, four Warriors, four Paladins, four Bandits, and four Hunters! He subconsciously glanced at the Mages who were gathered all together in the distance…

Aquatic Predator wielded a big hammer, and smashed it down on Lin Jie’s armor! As the Hammer had the slowest Attack speed within all weapons, it had the ‘Repel’ effect as a compensation. As long as the one’s strength was great enough, they would be able to attack their target indefinitely!

There was a loud noise, but Lin Jie did not step back at all!

Aquatic Predator was shocked as he saw a ‘-17’ float above Lin Jie’s head!

‘What kind of defense does this f*cking boy have!?’

The next second, the Broken Blade thrust into Aquatic Predator’s muscles which were exposed, and the damage of more than 200 points caused his health bar to drop by 1/3!

He must possess some superb equipment which can reduce injuries. We’ll just kill him and if he spawns that equipment, we’ll get rich!”

As soon as everyone heard the Mage’s words, all the Mages began chanting spells collectively, while several Paladins gritted their teeth and tried their best to hold off Lin Jie!

As long as a team could hold off as much time as possible for their Mages to cast spells, it wouldn’t be that difficult to kill a Warrior! It was known that Mana Defense was the weakness of all Warriors.

The Mages yelled angrily, “Blast him with the spells!”

Flames, Arcane spells, and Ice was formed in their palms, and thrown consecutively at this crazy Warrior! Elemental Attacks could get through the Warrior’s high-intensity physical defense capabilities!

The ground shook while the wind howled at Lin Jie’s every step.

Finally, Lin Jie was hit by Elemental magic. The Mages almost shouted out in excitement when they saw this scene! They had used eight kinds of Elemental magic altogether, and they believed that this would be enough to kill him as he was only left with minimal health points!

I was just planning to do some missions so I can earn my own living. If you kill me, I will drop back to Level 9, and it will be over for me…”

“Yes, yes, we are just helping someone complete his mission. It is Aquatic Predator who wanted to kill you, it’s none of our business!”

Several Mages hurriedly pleaded, hoping that Lin Jie would let them go.

It was not easy to get to Level 10. No one wanted to die after they changed jobs and finally had the ability to make money!

“I am not their Leader,” Baili Changcheng shrugged and let out an embarrassed laugh, “please don’t kill me along with them.”

Lin Jie shook his head calmly. “They attacked me first.”

Baili Changcheng nodded. “Yeah, a hired mission. Have you heard of Brotherhood? I joined this organization and earn a little pocket money by completing hired missions. Hehe… This time round, the person I planned to introduce you to is a big local tyrant. He’s what I’d call ‘stupid but rich,’ and his money is easy to earn!”

He laughed and patted Lin Jie’s shoulders.

A Runes Rib could be exchanged for 3,000 EXP points, and it would take about 400 such items to level up. However, only monsters which were of the Elite level or above could spawn such items.

Lin Jie inquired about the price Dominance gave for obtaining a piece of Runes Rib and got the shock of his life—he actually rewarded players with 1,000$ for a piece of Runes Rib!
