Huo Mian was truly dumbstruck.

She never thought Qin Chu would mention this to anyone. After all, this was a personal matter between the two of them.

Now that it had gone public, what did it all mean?

Huo Mian’s face grew pale as she dove into the matter deeper in her mind.

“Mian, are you still there?” Jiang Xiaowei’s voice came through the phone.

“I’m here.”

“Are… you okay?”

“Xiaowei, I’ve been divorced.”

“Um… What do you mean?”

“I’ve been divorced. It wasn’t my idea. I don’t know what’s gotten into Qin Chu’s head and I don’t know why he would do such a thing.”

“Could it be… could it be Qin Chu got blackmailed by someone??” Jiang Xiaowei didn’t know what to make of the situation as she was completely struck by surprise as well.

“I don’t know, I really don’t know.” At this point in time, Huo Mian was no longer able to remain calm and lost all efforts to remain focused.

“Mian, let’s calm down first and see where this goes. After all, I don’t think Qin Chu would do this for no reason. Perhaps this is a strategy trap for Huo Siqian?”

Huo Mian continued to remain in silence.

“Mian?”

“Xiaowei, let’s talk about this later. I’m going to find him and get to the bottom of this.” Huo Mian jumped up and quickly began to get ready.

She was walking down the stairs when she saw her mother preparing breakfast.

“Mian, when did you come home last night? I had no idea that you were back.”

“I came back at midnight, and you were already asleep so I didn’t wake you.”

“Okay, come and have some breakfast!” Yang Meirong didn’t quite understand everything that was going on with cell phones, so she was never informed of the headline news. As far as she was concerned, everything was still fine.

“It’s okay Mom, I’m going out for a bit.” Huo Mian grabbed her bag and hurried out.

Within a couple of minutes of her leaving, Yang Meirong had just sat down and was getting ready to eat breakfast before the news broke out on television.

The sweet-looking news broadcaster began speaking in a serious tone, “According to recent news, the president of the GK Corporation, Mr. Qin, had publicly announced the ending of his relationship with his wife, Huo Mian, at five in the morning today. They’re now in the midst of asset division.”

Yang Meirong listened in astonishment. She sat in stone silence and took no notice of the pair of chopsticks slipping through her hand. The chopsticks landed on the ground with a crisp sound and rolled across the dining room floor.

How could this be possible? Qin Chu and Huo Mian are getting divorced? They are even dividing up their properties?

It had only been days since they met with the in-laws to discuss the dowry and wedding presents. Most importantly, that boy, Qin Chu, loved Mian to no end, so how was this even be possible?

Huo Mian’s phone rang continuously as she made her way to GK Headquarters. A lot of people were asking her about the divorce.

Lingling and Gao Ran were amongst them, but she hadn’t replied to anyone.

All she wanted to do right then and there was to find Qin Chu and ask him what the hell was going on. The news was the most trending topic and had become the afternoon gossip for everyone on every social media outlet.

Many had taken a swing at the real reason behind Huo Mian and Qin Chu’s divorce.

Some said that one of them had an affair. Others said that GK was at an all-time low, so Huo Mian was looking out for herself and decided to flee.

There were also people suggesting that it must be a fake divorce in an effort to increase publicity and restore GK’s stock prices.

But after all, those inputs were all merely guesses, as the protagonists have not officially made any public announcements.

Huo Mian took a taxi to GK and headed straight for Qin Chu’s office. Before she could barge in, Assistant Yang interjected, “Young Madam, you can’t go in there.”

“Why not?”

“The president is not in there.”

“I don’t believe you.”

“He’s really not in there,” Yang answered. He really empathized Huo Mian. He didn’t know or understand why the Boss made such a decision. But, he did indeed receive the order that Huo Mian shall be denied access if she were to show up.

“Get out of the way, I need and will see him today. I have something that I need to ask him.”

Huo Mian pushed Yang aside without hesitation and barged into the office anyway.
