Chapter 1009 - Convergence of the Nine Talismans
Chapter 1009: Convergence of the Nine Talismans
The Tide of Dead Spirits could take away a practitioner’s spirit. It was a rather terrifying remarkable power.
Mo Wen’s Divine Sword of the Primordial Soul was not too bad either. This was one of the three biggest divine techniques in the Divine Soul Trillion Layers, and he had once absorbed the power of the Sea of Spiritual Flowers. This meant that his Primordial Soul and deified soul were covered with a layer of the sea of spiritual light. Although the Tide of Dead Spirit was powerful, Mo Wen had merged with the power of the Multicolor Queen’s deified soul. The cultivation of the deified soul was on a par with that of a practitioner at the later stage of the Tide Changing Realm. It was virtually impossible to fatally injure Mo Wen.
But even if Mo Wen could handle this, it did not mean the Jade Xiu King and the Ink Scaled King could withstand these blows too. Perhaps the cultivation of their Primordial Souls was above him, and their deified souls were not something he could compete with. Hundreds and thousands of years of accumulation would mean that the overall strength of their deified power should be stronger than Mo Wen’s. If Mo Wen had not merged the Multicolor Queen’s deified knowledge with his own, the cultivation of his Primordial Soul would be a far cry from theirs.
However, they dd not cultivate the Divine Soul Trillion Layers, and they did not have the protection of the sea of spiritual light either. Not even a practitioner with the great attainment of the Tide Changing Realm would be able to hold his own in the face of such a terrifying Tide of Dead Spirits, so it was likely that both of their Primordial Souls would slowly weaken as the next few waves hit. Eventually, they would perish completely.
This meant that Mo Wen could not afford to be entangled with the dead spirit guarding the mountain. He had to strike it down in as little time as possible, or, even if he managed to win in the end, the Jade Xiu King and the Ink Scaled King might die on the Ninth Spirit Mountain.
“Unbelievable!”
A shapeless flame flashed in Mo Wen’s eyes. That flame had no shape or color, yet it seemed like it was capable of warping time and space to allow for someone to catch on to its existence immediately.
Spiritless Clean Fire! This was Spiritless Clean Fire of the Heavenly Fire level.
With Mo Wen’s current cultivation, he could finally forcefully grasp the power of a bit of the Spiritless Clean Fire without fear of his body collapsing under the strain of the rejection.
When the shapeless flame appeared, it spread out in all four directions. Everywhere the fire touched, the dead spirits turned to nothing. In a split second, the Spiritless Clean Fire spread to every nook and cranny of the Ninth Spirit Mountain, enveloping its perimeter and causing the Tide of Dead Spirits to evaporate.
“Heavenly Fire! It’s Heavenly Fire!” the dead spirit guarding the mountain screamed in a shrill voice, looking like it had seen a ghost. The body cloaked by the grey robes started quaking non-stop; this was an innate fear. Flames and thunderbolts were, without a doubt, what dead spirits feared the most, and Heavenly Fires were the bane of any dead spirit’s existence.
His master from ancient times had no choice but to retreat upon sight of Heavenly Fire. He was fearful of coming into contact with the fire, even though his cultivation had been at the pinnacle. Things were no better for the spirit.
Heavenly Fire was the most terrifying of flames in the Heaven and Earth. Even though his cultivation was low, this human practitioner was capable of wielding such a terrifying Heavenly Fire.
It was unbelievable. The dead spirit guarding the mountain felt as if it were dreaming. It would never have imagined that Heavenly Fire would appear on such an insignificant-looking person.
“Heavenly Fire Shapeshifting.”
Mo Wen had little to no regard for the dead spirit’s fear and shock. He extended an arm, and the shapeless flames immediately condensed before morphing into a looming and transparent fire phoenix.
It let out a shrill cry that pierced the Nine Heavens. The illusory fire phoenix spread its wings and swept through the air in a graceful arc, charging right at the dead spirit.
Flame Phoenix Wave!
Mo Wen had long since practiced this remarkable power. It was a rather ordinary rite of passage level remarkable power, but Mo Wen now possessed the power of the Spiritless Clean Fire. This meant the Flame Phoenix Waves were genuinely terrifying.
“Phoenix Wonder!”
The dead spirit guarding the mountain screamed once again. Only practitioners who had a deep understanding of phoenixes could pull off such an attack. The Flame Phoenix Wave might only be an ordinary rite of passage level remarkable power, but successfully cultivating it was not at all easy. Mo Wen was only able to be enlightened with the wonders of the Phoenix Wave this easily because he possessed the Flame Phoenix’s tail feather.
The phoenix danced about in the air, and the skies seemed to be aflame. The dead spirit guarding the mountain stood there transfixed, staring up at the magnificent illusory phoenix in a daze. It stood rooted to the spot because it knew that this was a blow it could not evade.
The illusory phoenix swept by and then let out a long cry that shook the heavens. After a few beats, it finally started to dissipate little by little.
The dead spirit guarding the mountain turned to ashes under the strength of the phoenix’s power.
Pft!
Mo Wen clutched his chest with one hand as he spat out a mouthful of fresh blood. The power of the Heavenly Fire was simply too overwhelming, and he had used that as the foundation of an attack using a remarkable power like the Flame Phoenix Wave. That made the backlash much more terrifying.
Some things were still too much for him to bear, even in his current state. Had it not been for the Multicolor Queen’s protection, he would probably have been turned to ash.
Rays and rays of rainbow light seeped out from his chest, and Mo Wen instantly felt his wounds healing considerably. After half a beat, Mo Wen finally exhaled slowly instead of passing out and dying. The divine light coming from his chest had dimmed a little as if it were listless and ill.
He knew that the Multicolor Queen had transferred some of his wounds to her. When the two of them merged, they were destined to live and die together, share their blessings and their misfortunes as well as their pain.
“Did we win?”
The Ink Scaled King blinked and looked at the Ninth Spirit Mountain that was now empty. They had been on the verge of death a moment ago. How did they win? He had thought that he would not manage to escape and would end up dying here.
“Heavenly Fire!” the Jade Xiu King mumbled to himself. He turned his gaze to Mo Wen, looking a little out of sorts. Just what other secrets was this young man keeping to himself?
The rainbow light slowly dissipated from Mo Wen’s body, and the Celestial Body faded away as well, leaving Mo Wen to regain his human form. However, his aura was still rather weak. His face was pale, completely drained of blood. That one blow just now had caused a lot of damage, and he would not have been able to even stand if not for the Multicolor Queen shouldering half of the pain.
A rainbow light left Mo Wen’s body before slowly condensing into a beautiful figure. It was the Multicolor Queen.
But the Multicolor Queen’s figure was illusory now. It was like a ray of rainbow light that could disappear at any moment.
“Are you alright, Multicolor?” Mo Wen asked, a little concerned. He had been under the protection of his Celestial Body, so taking such a huge blow had probably been much worse for the Multicolor Queen.
“I’m alright.” The Multicolor Queen shook her head. Despite that, she seemed a little too pale.
It was then that Mo Wen finally noticed something. He could finally take in the Multicolor Queen’s appearance properly because the layer of multicolor light that had been blocking him had quietly dissipated.
Mo Wen’s first impression of her was that she was as beautiful as a painting. She looked very much like a lady who had walked right out of a watercolor painting. He did not expect someone who was the Queen of the Multicolor Clan to look as delicate and beautiful as she did.
“Multicolor!”
The Jade Xiu King and the Ink Scaled King both immediately flew over. They looked at Multicolor and were a little shocked. This was also the first time they had seen her face because she had never shown them her true appearance before. They had never understood why before, but they did now. It was due to the Heart of Multicolor.
“Unparalleled beauty, indeed. She’s too good for that bloke Mo Wen,” the Ink Scaled King remarked rather enviously. The Multicolor Queen had always been somewhat of a femme fatale and now that she was this beautiful, there was simply no telling how many more people would fall in love with this lady in the days to come.
“Who are you talking about?” The Multicolor Queens’ eyes glinted and a dash of dazzling, rainbow light flashed in her eyes as she stared down the Ink Scaled King.
“N-nobody…” the Ink Scaled King stuttered out in response. He was taken aback by the force of the Multicolor Queen, and his confidence withered. This woman was not going to lay a hand on him, was she?
Could he not even speak now? The Ink Scaled King suppressed a sigh. Once a woman had a man, she became unreasonable.
“Alright, Multicolor, that old bloke Ink Scaled and I are still your closest friends no matter you spin it. You won’t forget about your brothers now that you have a lover, right?” the Jade Xiu King said with a smile.
When the Multicolor Queen heard his words, her face colored. She looked towards the mountains, not daring to look at Mo Wen. It was as if concealing something.
“Let’s all head to the Ninth Spirit Platform. Haven’t you guys been anticipating your escape from this place?” Mo Wen asked with a smile.
The Ninth Spirit Platform was the place that would take him directly to the core area of the Creation Pool. The four of them had sustained grievous injuries, but those would quickly heal when they entered the Creation Pool. He did not want to stay in the Nine Spirits Road.
The Jade Xiu King and the Ink Scaled King grew excited when they heard him. The Multicolor Queen was no exception. Mo Wen was right! They could finally escape from this prison and step out into a larger world after several millennia.
Mo Wen slowly made his way to the Ninth Spirit Platform. The moment he stood upon it, the entire Nine Spirits Road seemed to quake. In the next moment, a boundless light trickled down from the heavens. A gigantic vortex appeared above the sky, and it looked as if the heaven and the earth were spinning.
A beam of divine light shot out from the vortex and descended upon Mo Wen like a shooting star. Almost immediately, the light on his body shone brightly and rune after rune flashed on his body. These were the creation talismans he had obtained before.
One, two, three…
A total of nine creation talismans surrounded Mo Wen, and every one of them was shining as brightly as stars. The heaven and the earth seemed to be connected by these nine talismans.
“Nine… nine creation talismans! My God…”
The Ink Scaled King stared at the scene in disbelief, his mouth hanging wide open. His brain had not yet caught up to this. How could he… have nine creation talismans? Did he not say that he only had four, and the one from the Nine Spirits Road would be the fifth?
The Multicolor Queen was also frozen in shock. The scene unfolding before her right now was something she could not even imagine in her dreams. The nine creation talismans of the legends were on a single person?
Had Mo Wen already obtained eight creation talismans before this?
She had already ascertained that Mo Wen had at least four creation talismans on him, perhaps even more, but there was no way she would have guessed that he would have eight of them.
As a great king of the ancient land, she knew better than anyone that in the test of the Path of Creation, no one would be so bold as to guarantee they would manage to obtain every single creation talisman on the Path of Creation. This was not an issue of strength. Even with her power, it would be difficult for her to obtain every one of the nine creation talismans if she challenged the Path of Creation. This required luck and wit as well.
“Legend has it that the convergence of the nine talismans would…” The Jade Xiu King looked at Mo Wen in a daze, completely befuddled.
