Luoluokaluos possessed transformation abilities, a very formidable feat. When Nailisi fell down, she felt her mental powers were exhausted and knew that she was unable to keep her golden dragon form for long.

The 12 Vermillion Knights saw an opening and charged. They intended to eat Nailisi. If they were able to devour a golden dragon, all of the Vermillion Knights would advance.

Nailisi wiggled on the ground and lashed out with one of her claws at a Vermillion Knight. She no longer bothered defending and opened her mouth, shooting dragon’s breath at the Vermillion Knight.

The Vermillion Knight was quickly riddled with holes before its elemental core blew up.

However, Nailisi was quickly pierced by the remaining 11 Vermillion Knights. The attack severed all of her tendons, immobilizing her.

The Vermillion Knights did not bother crying over their dead comrade. All they saw was how valuable Nailisi’s body was.

Her dragon head was almost cut off. Despite that, she continued grinning ferociously through the severe pain. She swiped her tail and her body shrank, turning into her skeleton king form. She threw out thousands of magic bugs from her space equipment the moment she finished transforming.

The magic bugs were all venomous and nurtured using the terrifying venom concocted by Agares.

While Vermillion Knights generally had no fear of venom, it depended on the type of venom in question. The Vermillion Knights found themselves to have underestimated their target when the magic bugs jumped on them. The bodies of all remaining 11 Vermillion Knights were corroded by the venom.

While their elemental cores continuously restored their elemental shells, it failed to stop the venom from seeping in.

The magic bugs were only capable of injecting their venom one time before being burned to death.

What frustrated the Vermillion Knights was not the damage they suffered, but the golden dragon’s disappearance. The reason they kept tangling with Nailisi was to acquire the golden dragon’s body. With the golden dragon gone and so many of their own missing, their master would definitely punish them!

Every single Vermillion Knight thought of that. The level 10 skeleton king was not a threat to them; the true threat was the fire type element spirit’s unruly and unstable temper.

The Vermillion Knights gave their all. If they went back empty-handed, they would have to answer to a fire type element spirit who would be out to make their lives miserable.

Vermillion flames shot out from the 11 Vermillion Knights’ cores. It was the fire of their lives. The vermillion flames completely burned all the venom that was clinging to them. They shed their elemental shells so venom was unable to seep any further into their bodies.

They gave up their shells and retained only their cores in the most basic form.

While it was a crippling move, it enabled all of the Vermillion Knights to shake free of their poisoned states.

Eleven weapons lashed out at Nailisi again. She felt she was very unlucky for running into so many elemental creatures who were a higher level than she was. She would have made short work of them if they were of her level.

However, when levels went beyond level 10, every single level was an insurmountable difference of power.

If she had to deal with only one level 11 Vermillion Knight, she would have ways to go about it. But at the moment, she had to deal with 11 of them that synchronized with each other quite well. It would be difficult to make further sacrifices in another form just to kill another one.

The golden dragon form suffered severe damage and would need at least a month to recuperate. Her skeleton form was quickly turned into a pile of shattered bones after taking the brunt of the attack.

Nailisi was able to time her transformation well enough to change into her devil form and retreated quickly, holding her shield and blocking the entrance to the purgatory of the fallen.

The remaining 11 Vermillion Knights witnessed their enemy killed only for the enemy to resurrect in yet another form. Their rage had hit a critical point. While the enemy was not powerful, it had many tricks up its sleeve.

The magic bugs might have been weak, but had been capable of withstanding high temperatures for long enough to cause major trouble for the Vermillion Knights.

The elemental shells that they shed had evolved for tens of thousands of years. New elemental shells would be incomparable to the ones they just lost.

One of the Vermillion Knights mobilized their fire tiger, which rammed into Nailisi’s shield. The Vermillion Knight was about 20 meters tall and reached 24 to 25 meters when riding on the fire tiger. Nailisi’s height at the moment was only ten meters, but the shield was more than able to cover her entire body.

The Vermillion Knight was not even able to attack successfully using superior height.

However, level 11 creatures possessed great strength. The Vermillion Knight thrust its fiery lance at her shield, rendering Nailisi’s arm completely numb.

The shield was unscathed as it had belonged to a head inquisitor. Despite its attributes being completely wiped clean, it was still incredibly sturdy.

While the Vermillion Knights were of average intelligence, their combat prowess was formidable. One ram was all they needed to tell that Nailisi lacked brute strength. Regardless of how resilient the shield was, it still needed someone to wield it.

The second Vermillion Knight mobilized their fire tiger and rammed the shield. Nailisi buckled and retreated half a step. If she had stood her ground, her arms would have gone completely numb. Nailisi missed Sika.

If Sika had been holding the shield, she might have been able to bash the Vermillion Knight badly enough to make it retreat.

There were times where brute strength worked best.

Nailisi continued to hide behind the shield, holding both the Grey Memory and the Sword of Rules. The remaining arm held the net that Saleen had lent her. While the net proved useless against the Angel of Brightness, it worked well against the Vermillion Knights.

But she was completely outnumbered. Even if she managed to trap one of them, victory still wouldn’t be hers. The other Vermillion Knights would rescue their trapped brother and take her net away.

Boom!

The third Vermillion Knight rammed into her shield, and this time, Nailisi moved forward. It was a move learned from warriors. Nailisi took the step before the Vermillion Knight completed its attack, which greatly diminished the force it could deliver.

The Vermillion Knights saw that they were unable to match Nailisi in skill and spread out. Two Vermillion Knights rammed into her instead.

The portal was large enough to accommodate the shock from two elemental creatures’ attacks.

Nailisi’s skill was nullified. The two Vermillion Knights had a half second lag between their respective attacks. It became impossible for her to deflect her enemy’s power. She was not Jola, and thus lacked such refined abilities.

It was the first time Nailisi felt the importance of technique. If she had been willing to learn from Jola, the man would have done his best to teach her. However, she had wasted too much time sleeping. Nailisi now regretted that.

Nailisi swallowed a piece of divine crystal while the enemy backed away in order to replenish her mental powers in the fastest way possible. She wondered how long it would take her double in purgatory to restore to full fighting strength.

There were too many damaged or dead believers inside, and Nailisi’s double needed to help treat and revive them.

Boom! Boom!

Three Vermillion Knights rammed into her. They gave up their steeds and chose to stand on their own feet. The attack forced Nailisi five steps back, retreating almost into the portal.

Nailisi lowered the shield and thrust the Grey Memory. One of the Vermillion Knights looked at the huge hole in its chest in disbelief. The hole was unable to be restored; its elemental core was shattered by one thrust from Nailisi.

The entire street trembled as the level 11 Vermillion Knight exploded. Its brethren around it bunched up to resist the shock from the explosion. Nailisi raised the shield again and knelt, letting the fires from the explosion hit the center of the shield.

The mental powers that she had painstakingly restored were almost exhausted again after she dished out that thrust.

“Put down your shield and follow us back to see our master. We will spare your life if you do!” one of the Vermillion Knights shouted. Its voice was heard in the surrounding seawater, spreading out in all directions.

Two figures suddenly charged from the shadows. One of the figures pointed a finger at the Vermillion Knight’s chest, and the core of the Vermillion Knight crumbled.

However, it was still alive. Saleen unraveled a sealing scroll, sealing the level 11 Vermillion Knight inside the scroll.

Saleen turned around and shot seven lightning icicles. He went all out in the attack, since he was able to tell that Nailisi’s mental powers had been severely depleted, resorting to fighting.

However, she was no match for the level 11 creatures. If he had showed up any later, Nailisi would have probably been taken away.

Saleen shot seven out of the remaining ten Vermillion Knights, leaving only three behind for Jason. He relied on powerful equipment to fight while Jason relied solely on his own power.

He wanted to see how strong his teacher actually was.

Saleen still remembered how his teacher had dared to challenge a magic tower when he was still at level five. Saleen knew Jason’s temperament well enough that his teacher would provoke him when not in any mortal danger.

Jason’s actions far exceeded Saleen’s expectations.

Jason’s black magic robe billowed in the water like a soft wing. He used an unknown skill and came beside a Vermillion in an instant, pressing his palm on the Vermillion Knight’s chest.

Saleen saw that Jason had sent a sliver of Water Flame into the Vermillion Knight’s body. The Vermillion Knight crumbled piece by piece as the Water Flame passed.

Jason’s territory expanded furiously and shrouded yet another Vermillion Knight.

The level 11 Vermillion Knight shot flames from all over its body, but the flames were black. The black flames burned the Vermillion Knight alive and reduced it to an inner core of just a little more than three meters tall. There was only one final Vermillion Knight left standing before Jason.

It was incapable of subduing Jason despite being level 11. Jason’s Blazing Flame Soul-refinement was so powerful that not even fire elemental creatures were able to withstand the temperatures.

“Submit to me!” Jason shouted at the last level 11 Vermillion Knight. The level 11 Vermillion Knight shivered and fell to its knees while facing a level ten human.

Saleen watched with glittering eyes. Jason’s last shout seemed to be imbued with Thundering Sound, but that was actually not the case. The skill actually worked on the internal parts of a living being’s body, causing a powerful resonance which made it feel fear from the inside out.
