Chapter 971: The Attack

Giggle’s prowess was equivalent to that of a Level 19 supercat in the Book. Faced with such a strong supercat like Giggle, it was impossible for normal apostles and supercats to defend themselves against his powers. Even Zhao Yao, who used the superpowers of Level 15 Diana against Giggle, had no choice but to flee back then.

These earthling apostles and supercats were naturally defenseless against Giggle.

With a light touch of his power of Awareness, their minds and thoughts were immediately distorted to obey Giggle. They had instantly turned into Giggle’s underlings with undying loyalty towards him.

Giggle allowed the political elites to leave after he easily manipulated them and laid down the two missions.

He had done the same thing many times. Many of the big countries on Earth were already under his control.

“Humph, when I finally manage to control all the governments on this planet, I will rule over all of them. These governments will be searching for you and surveillance will be planted everywhere to seek you out. I’m sure I will find you then.”

Giggle’s pupils constricted slightly as he recalled the image of the male figure who had cheated in Closers World.

Although Giggle had almost absolute control, it was impossible for him to control every single person on the planet after all. Even with his powers, controlling the political elites of various states was the maximum he could achieve.

The changes in the power politics of the higher ups and their abnormal behavior came to the attention of many, especially the lower to middle ranking political elites.

Not to mention the high-ranking, powerful apostles that lacked political authority.

When they sensed the abnormalities in the upper levels, all kinds of tests, resistance, and spying activities ensued.

On Earth, a rising force slowly built up to resist Giggle’s powers and control.

A wave of undercover activities swept across the world, foreshadowing the impending storm.

However, Giggle was totally nonchalant about the brewing wave of resistance. He just had to get rid of the leader riding on the waves of dissent to secure his control. He did not even try to hide his existence.

In primitive planets like these, his powers were almost unstoppable. Countless other planets similar to this had come to ruin in his hands as well.

On the Cat Island, Zhao Yao stood on the highest cliff on the island. He stared at the back of the cat in front of him and asked curiously, “What does it feel like to have experienced death?”

Sphynx cat sat like a human, cross-legged on the edge of the cliff. He stared at the sunset in the horizon as he said, puzzled, “There’s nothing special about it. Death is like falling asleep. Aside from darkness, it was absolute emptiness. There was nothing at all and nothing existed. But…”

Sphynx cat stared at the world before him and inhaled deeply before he said, “But when I could see this world again, I felt even more alive now.”

Zhao Yao stroked Sphynx cat’s head and said, “I don’t trust that alien cat. I need a cat to keep a watch on the Door of Everlasting Life.”

Sphynx cat nodded and replied, “I will stay here to keep guard.”

Zhao Yao nodded in return. Arria was an alien cat after all. He was a cat that ruled over countless humans in ancient times and played an instrumental role in shaping the history and existence of Earth. Zhao Yao decided that it was too risky to leave such an important tool like the Door of Everlasting Life to Arria alone.

Furthermore, Arria and Asser had very strong innate capabilities to begin with. They too had mastered the power of Awareness, so all the supercats below Level 11 were no match for them.

However, Sphynx cat’s superior physique did not fall under that category. Especially since Sphynx cat had sharply accurate insight abilities, extremely quick reaction time and a multitude of battle experiences on top of his physical supercat abilities, he was the best cat to supervise the two alien cats. With Sphynx cat watching them, Zhao Yao could feel more assured now.

“The Door of Everlasting Life is still a very useful tool. If I accumulate lives in the Door everyday, I will be able to accumulate many more instances of revival,” Zhao Yao hugged Sphynx cat as he said, “From now on, besides helping me to keep watch on those two alien cats, I will also need you to help me accumulate revival counts…”

Zhao Yao briefly explained his grand plans for the accumulation of revival counts. “Midnight… Matcha… Runes… Kill…”

After hearing Zhao Yao’s plans, Sphynx cat raised an eyebrow as he stared at Zhao Yao.

“What’s wrong? You don’t get it?” Zhao Yao asked Sphynx cat earnestly, like a farmer who was concerned about the conditions of his field. “Let me explain the plan more precisely to you again.”

“No need, I get it…” Sphynx cat said. He thought to himself, “This world is really still as cruel as it was before…”

In the next month, Zhao Yao continued to live in hiding. As he traveled the world completing missions, he kept on logging in and out of Closers World and opening accounts with a different ID to boost his progress bar.

The Door of Everlasting Life had accumulated thousands of sacrificial intelligent lives, which was enough to revive Sphynx cat 10 times over.

However, as Zhao Yao quietly developed his capabilities and leveled up, the superpower realm across the world had become increasingly turbulent because of the upheaval which Giggle had created.

Inside a conference room.

More than ten famed supercats and apostles from Southeast Asia gathered around the table. The atmosphere was deadly serious.

“This cannot go on,” a middle-aged man said, “This cat’s power and influence is getting out of control. The United States, China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand… they have all succumbed to him.”

“If this goes on, the whole world will completely fall under his control.”

“The situation in India is equally critical,” a dark-skinned Indian man said. “More than half of the higher ups have fallen under his control. Some were unwillingly controlled, but most others defected of their own accord.”

A white cat typed rapidly his phone to say, “This is the scariest part. It’s like a snowball avalanche. More and more people and cats willingly join him after discovering his prowess. The number of resistance forces are dwindling as well.”

“But they are too strong,” the Indian man replied. “I heard even the Headless Horseman from China was also killed by them.”

The middle-aged man said, “So we must unite our forces. We can’t be lone wolves fighting our own battles now. The American continent is almost completely subsumed under his control. The situation here in Southeast Asia isn’t looking good either. Judging from their direction, their next targets will be West Asia, Europe, Africa…”

Right at that moment, a loud explosion was heard as the wall at the back of the conference room was blasted apart. A horde of apostles clad in black combat uniform rushed in.

“It’s people from the Star Cats!”

“Retreat!”

“Ah! They’re his apostles!”

The wrath of the power of Awareness swept across them. One by one, the apostles from the resistance forces sat back down as their faces contorted.

Maria slowly walked in. She was the head apostle under Giggle and she was also the one who first led a team to capture Zhao Yao in Jianghai.

During this period, Giggle focused his attacks on various countries in Southeast Asia. She was the apostle who led the team in cleaning up all kinds of resistance forces.

She glanced at the humans and cats in the room coldly. Maria said, “Bring all of them back for interrogation.”

One of her henchmen beside her laughed. “These idiots. They didn’t even know we planted a spy amongst them.”
