Growing Fond of You, Mr Nian

“Why did Miao Zheng bring that woman here?” Nian Junting grabbed his cousin beside him agitatedly.

His cousin looked over and said, “I heard he brings her wherever he goes, to show off, I guess. She was the top actress just a few years back, after all. Now she is his woman. He acts impudently towards her, and hurls verbal abuse and physical abuse as and when he pleases.”

“What about his wife? How can she stand him bringing his mistress to my grandma’s birthday party? What kind of joke is this?” Nian Junting was repulsed.

“Aiyo, their marriage is only valid on paper. They haven’t gotten a divorce, but they haven’t lived together for years. Mr. Miao hit her whenever he was drunk, so she moved out long ago. I heard this from my dad,” his cousin remarked. “If you want him to come with his wife, that won’t be possible.”

Nian Junting was disgusted.

When the dinner started, most of the guests came forward to greet the old lady. The old lady had had several glasses of fruit juice and needed to use the washroom. His Second Aunt accompanied her.

Nian Junting was toasting several old employees of the company when he suddenly heard a loud shriek. “Murder, murder!”

The party was abruptly halted. The Nian family looked worried. They knew the voice. “It’s Second Aunt!” Nian Xi shouted. “She went to the washroom with Grandma!”

Nian Junting kicked the chair away and dashed towards the sound. He bumped straight into Second Aunt who was in a panic. Her hands were stained with fresh blood.

She looked relieved when she saw Nian Junting and grabbed his hand frantically. “In the washroom, there’s a crazy woman. She has a knife. Someone is hurt. Ma is still inside.”

“How can you leave Grandma inside?” Nian Junting pushed her aside angrily and dashed into the bathroom.

There was blood everywhere, and the old lady was struggling on the ground. Leng Shuangwei leaned against the sink feebly. There was a gaping wound on her abdomen that was bleeding profusely. She had multiple gashes across her arms as well. A lady in a red trench coat was still waving a knife dangerously at the old lady.

Leng Shuangwei kicked the lady’s back, but she was injured and her strength limited. The lady turned to plunge the knife into Leng Shuangwei.

Nian Junting recognized her face instantly. Zhong Yi. The crazy woman was Zhong Yi. He acted quickly and rushed forward to pin her down onto the ground.

“Let me go. I am going to kill all of you. You caused me great misery. How can Xu Luosang have all the happiness in the world? She is the reason I am in this sorry state today. I am going to ruin her. I won’t ever allow her to be happy. I am going to seek revenge. I am going to kill all of Nian Junting’s family today,” Zhong Yi shouted at the top of her lungs.

Nian Junting knocked her out with the handle of the knife. In the meantime, Nian Xi and Nian Qingyun had rushed there, too.

“Shuangwei…” Nian Xi was shocked. She quickly stepped forward to support her.

Leng Shuangwei clutched Nian Xi’s hands, slowly slid to the floor, and lost consciousness.

“Quick, save her!” Grandma Nian said feebly. “If she hadn’t taken the knife for me, it would have been my death anniversary today.”

Nian Junting called the ambulance immediately and notified the police as well. There were doctors present among the guests, and they quickly stepped forward to stop the bleeding.

When the ambulance came, Leng Shuangwei and Grandma Nian were quickly brought to the hospital. Grandma Nian only suffered mild injuries. She had sprained her ankle when she fell to the ground. However, Leng Shuangwei was in a critical state.

At the hospital, Second Uncle was grabbing onto Second Aunt and shouting angrily, “How could you leave Ma in there and run away to safety by yourself?”
